Yesterday, we had the honor of spending the afternoon with Collier, a 13-year-old who has been navigating some pretty tough medical treatment. We learned that he’s developed an interest in law enforcement, so we figured there was only one thing to do: welcome him to the team.

He left with challenge coins, patches, and letters from officers across the state reminding him that he has a whole lot of people in his corner.

Keep fighting, Collier. We’re pulling for you! 💙👮‍♂️

Representation matters — and last week it looked like a room full of young women learning what a career in public safety actually takes.

Interim Police Chief Jackie Stepp served as keynote speaker for the Emergency Management Experience West Summer Camp at Blue Ridge Community College, joining students in 9th through 12th grade for a week built around emergency response, leadership, and service.

Thank you to Blue Ridge Community College and the Emergency Management Camp Team for building something that gives students a real look at this work — and to these students for showing up.
