⛳️ Our 24th Annual Golf Tournament is coming up on September 14th! Currently, our teams are full, but there are non-playing sponsorship options if you’d like to contribute! This is our largest fundraiser and all generous donations help provide prevention education to children in grades K-5 (we taught almost 7,000 children last year!). Donations also help support MCAC by providing free evidence-based therapy to help children heal. These are just two important programs your donations will help to support. Interested in learning more? Check out our website!

Mr. Quokka Four Paws is getting ready! School starts soon which means Prevention Education does too! Did you know our prevention educators work closely with Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, various Charter & Montessori schools! Children in grades k-5 will learn about what makes a trusted adult, healthy boundaries, and secrets vs surprises! All lessons are age appropriate and some even feature our Puppy & Quokka puppets! Check with your school counselor to see if your school is signed up! πŸ’™

Do you agree with us? 😊

You are the boss of your body! How often do we remind our kids of this powerful rule?

Having conversations with your child about keeping their bodies safe can be uncomfortable. Start having these conversations when children are young (age appropriate conversations of course!) Try weaving it into everyday conversations to help build confidence, recognize healthy boundaries, and what to do if they ever feel uncomfortable. By the time they get older, there’s more of a chance your child will come to you if they feel comfortable and supported. πŸ’™πŸ’™

Firearm Safety for Families

Our hearts are with the many families impacted by violence in the Asheville area.

Did you know children as young as three may be strong enough to pull the trigger on a handgun?

Fi****ms are the leading cause of death for children 1 to 17 in the US. You can help safeguard your child by asking questions before playdates and storing fi****ms safely if you have one yourself.

Asheville Police Department offers free child-safe gun locks to the public. Gun locks are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the front desk of the APD at 60 Court Plaza, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm, and also at Station 13 (316 Broadway St). No personal information is required; just stop by and ask. Let's work together to practice safe storage and keep our families and communities safe.

July is Disability Pride Month! It originated in the US to commemorate the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990.

Every child, regardless of ability, deserves to feel safe, valued, and empowered.

Children with disabilities are also often at a higher risk for bullying, boundary violations, and safety concerns which makes prevention education and community support vital.

Cousins are the perfect mix of family and friends, filling life with fun, love, and memories.
Be sure to talk to other adult family members about child safety: avoiding one on ones, open doors, not keeping secrets, and sharing with a trusted adult if kids feel uncomfortable.
