Summer is officially here are there are a TON of fun and free events and programs to enjoy as the new season kicks off. Check out the Fun 4 Lake Kids calendar for ideas as you're searching for things to do! Also, our Fun Around Town Section is great if you're looking for those splash pads, parks, day trips and more ideas to keep the kiddos occupied. OCALA NATIONAL FOREST SAFETY PERIMETER ACTIVATED FOR NAVY TRAINING:
The U.S. Navy has scheduled “Live/Inert bombing” exercises next week at the Pinecastle Range Complex, located on the Ocala National Forest. Please note these dates/times and follow public safety guidance:

1 June 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)

2 June 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)

3 June 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)

4 June 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Live/Inert)

BE ADVISED: During bombing periods, wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Use extra caution when driving through the Ocala National Forest and surrounding areas. Secure any items around your residence that could attract wildlife. I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Bobby Williams.

Bobby is a strong supporter of Florida’s small towns, rural communities, and the values that make them unique. We discussed the importance of protecting our rural way of life, supporting local governments, and ensuring that growth is balanced with preserving the character of the communities we call home.

Mark your calendar, Camping with a Cop is happening in just two weeks! 🏕️

Join us on Friday, June 12th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Training Center for an afternoon packed with fun, including rock painting, archery, s’more making, a scavenger hunt, prizes, and more.

This is a free family-friendly event and is not an overnight camping experience.

Come meet our deputies, and enjoy a fun summer afternoon with us without the mosquitoes. 😉
