Sometimes stability begins with something practical: groceries, hygiene items, school supplies, legal referrals, respite, tutoring, or help during the holidays.

Atlas Alliance Family Support responds to real needs that can place added pressure on kinship households. Meeting a practical need today can help a caregiver keep building a stable home tomorrow.

Donate to help provide practical support for kinship families.

MYTH: Because a child is with family, the caregiver has everything needed to succeed.

TRUTH: Kinship caregivers may need legal guidance, financial resources, school advocacy, childcare, respite, emotional support, and help navigating benefits. Love is the foundation—but support helps families remain stable.

Kinship care is not always temporary.

More than 1 million U.S. grandparents responsible for grandchildren had been providing that care for five years or longer, according to the 2024 American Community Survey five-year estimates.

Long-term caregiving requires long-term community support—not just help during the first crisis.

A caregiver may suddenly need to understand trauma, discipline, school advocacy, IEPs, benefits, and legal options—all while helping a child adjust.

Atlas Alliance education programs turn overwhelming information into practical next steps. When caregivers gain knowledge and confidence, children benefit too.

This is not a small or isolated experience.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2024 five-year estimates, more than 2.1 million grandparents living with grandchildren under age 18 were responsible for their care. More than 1 million had carried that responsibility for five years or longer.

Kinship caregivers are sustaining families across the country—and they deserve support that matches their commitment.

A new classroom can be exciting—and stressful.

Children in kinship care may be adjusting to a new home, new routines, changes in contact with parents, or a different school at the same time. Consistency, patience, and communication with teachers can help create safety during the transition.

Support the caregiver, and you help support the child.

Today is National Nonprofit Day, but our mission is lived out every day.

Atlas Alliance supports kinship families through four connected programs: Case Management, Support Groups, Education, and Family Support. Together, they help caregivers navigate challenges, build confidence, find community, and meet practical needs.

Four programs. One purpose: keeping children with family and out of foster care.

Make a gift today to help these four programs reach more families.

đź’™ Help Us Raise $10,000 by Labor Day!

Federal SNAP changes are creating new challenges for grandparents and relatives who have stepped up to raise children. For many kinship families, even a small change in food assistance can mean having to make difficult choices between groceries, keeping the lights on, transportation, and other basic needs.

That’s why we’re asking our community to come together.

🥕 $50 provides emergency groceries for a family in crisis.
đź’ˇ $100 helps with utilities, transportation, or another urgent household need.
🏡 $250 helps stabilize a family facing the loss or delay of food assistance.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by Labor Day to make sure kinship families have somewhere to turn when they need help most.

Together, we can make sure no grandparent has to choose between caring for a child and putting food on the table. đź’™
