🌟 Celebrating National Kinship Care Month 🌟

This September, DeKalb County CASA proudly recognizes the incredible individuals who open their hearts and homes to children through kinship care. 💙

Whether they are grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, family friends, or other trusted adults, kinship caregivers provide more than a place to stay. They offer love, stability, guidance, and a sense of belonging when children need it most.

By keeping children connected to family, culture, and community, kinship caregivers help preserve important relationships and create brighter futures. Their compassion, strength, and selfless dedication make an immeasurable difference in the lives of the children they support.

Join us this month as we celebrate and thank these everyday heroes for the vital role they play in helping children feel safe, supported, and loved.

💙 Thank you, kinship caregivers, for all that you do.

Congratulations, Mary! We are looking forward to celebrating with you tomorrow!!!

The Karen N. Sibley CASA Volunteer of the Year Award is a big deal. This year’s recipient, Mary Starck, has served as a CASA volunteer for over a decade with DeKalb County CASA. We are so touched by her dedication and passion to support children in foster care.

Program Director Tara Daniels had this to say:

“Mary is a joy and a gem. Her genuine advocacy and unwavering devotion to the best interests is truly awe inspiring. She has been a calm, consistent and reliable change agent in every case she’s been assigned. We are so grateful to have her not only as a volunteer, but also as a supporter of the program as a whole.”

Congratulations Mary! We can’t wait to celebrate you tomorrow 🎉

Our newest CASA Volunteer Training Class is officially in Week 3, and we are so proud of the dedication this group continues to show. Over the past few weeks, participants have been diving into online learning, engaging in live virtual sessions, and building the foundational skills needed to advocate for children experiencing foster care.

This week, they’re continuing to deepen their understanding of the child welfare system, strengthen their court report writing skills, and learning more about working with the children and families we serve. Watching their confidence grow and their “why” become even clearer is one of the best parts of this journey.

💙 We’re cheering them on as they move closer to becoming sworn‑in advocates for DeKalb County’s children.
