Our volunteers are at the heart of our mission!🧡

Last fiscal year, we saw 46,166 volunteers come through the Hunger Action Center and Community Food Centers. Last weekend, we honored the top 50 of those volunteers. Their dedication, compassion, and generosity have made a lasting impact in the lives of our neighbors.

We're so grateful for the opportunity to say thank you for all they’ve done to make a difference!

Kelechi first volunteered at the Community Food Center - Stone Mountain through his employer. After his initial shift, he decided to sign up again — this time bringing his children along.

"I went to the Hunger Action Center first, and then I signed my family up to come to the Community Food Center - Stone Mountain," Kelechi said. "I grew up in Stone Mountain, so it's great to be able to give back to my community, and we look forward to making this a consistent thing.”

Kelechi’s commitment to giving back is something he’s passing on to his children.

"I tell my girls all the time that it's better to give than receive. It really is a humbling feeling just being able to come out and help your community."

Kelechi exemplifies how individual volunteers can make a meaningful impact in addressing local food insecurity.

“We try to give back as much as we can. I especially enjoy bagging up food.”
