Congrats to May Professional of the Month, Josh McGrath! Josh, a senior from Hall-Dale High School, is enrolled in his second year of the Machine Tool & Welding program, where he has consistently demonstrated dedication, skill, and a strong work ethic. Throughout his time in the program, Josh has especially enjoyed designing and manufacturing precision parts that directly align with his future career goals in machining. He takes pride in how much he has learned about the trade and values the hands-on experiences that have helped prepare him for the workforce.

One of Josh’s favorite projects was collaborating with his classmates to build a go-kart from the ground up. A project that required teamwork, problem-solving, and technical precision. Outside of the classroom, Josh stays busy playing baseball for Hall-Dale, working, golfing, and spending time with friends.

After graduation, Josh plans to begin working full-time at Kennebec Technologies, where he looks forward to applying the skills he has developed in the program. His instructor, Cody Rau, describes Josh as “focused, polite, and detail-oriented,” noting that he consistently delivers high-quality work and takes great pride in everything he produces. Josh’s commitment to excellence and his positive attitude make him a well-deserving May Professional of the Month.

Congrats to April Professional of the Month, Joseph Bailey! Joseph is a senior from Cony High School and a standout student in the Culinary Arts program. He values the opportunity the program has given him to meet new people and consistently describes his instructors as “amazing.” Joseph especially enjoys the hands-on nature of the class, noting that it makes learning both engaging and fun. He has also thrived in competitive settings, which have become a meaningful part of his experience.
Joseph has earned impressive success through ProStart competitions. He was a member of the Maine ProStart Management Team competition-winning team, which advanced to the National ProStart Management Team Competition in Baltimore, Maryland. His team also captured a win in a national video contest for their food truck concept. As a result, Joseph will travel to Chicago later this month, where his team’s food truck design will be brought to life and showcased at the National Restaurant Association Show. In addition, Joseph earned a gold medal in Restaurant Service at the State of Maine SkillsUSA competition and will represent Maine at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, this June.
Joseph shares that these competitive experiences have pushed him well outside his comfort zone, with tremendous rewards. Prior to participating in these events, he had never flown on an airplane, making the opportunities even more impactful.
Outside of the Culinary Arts program, Joseph is actively involved in both the Spanish Club and Debate Club at Cony High School. He works at Cushnoc Brewing Company and will also be employed this summer with the Augusta School Department’s custodial team. This fall, Joseph will attend the University of Maine, where he plans to study business with the goal of becoming a nutritionist.
Culinary Arts Instructor Chef Patrick Austin shared, “Joseph consistently gives his all to every task he takes on, approaching each day in the kitchen with energy, focus, and pride in his work. His passion for culinary arts is evident in everything he does. He leads with kindness and respect, setting a positive example for those around him and helping create a supportive, team-focused environment. Joseph is not only a valued member of our ProStart Management Team, but he has also earned the opportunity to represent Maine at SkillsUSA Nationals in Restaurant Service. He has truly been an outstanding representative of Culinary Arts at CATC, both in and out of the classroom.”
Joseph’s dedication, leadership, and willingness to challenge himself make him a deserving Professional of the Month and a wonderful ambassador for the Culinary Arts program.

CATC is proud to announce an April Professional of the Month, Emmet Ambrose! Emmet, a home-schooled junior enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, has been selected for his outstanding commitment, professionalism, and teamwork. Emmet has valued the opportunity to learn alongside peers who share his interest in emergency medicine and has fully embraced the collaborative environment of the program.
Throughout his time in EMT, Emmet has taken advantage of the many hands-on learning experiences the program offers. Students develop essential skills through patient assessment, taking vital signs, CPR and AED training, trauma care, medical and emergency simulations, and scenario-based problem solving that mirrors real-world emergency response. Emmet entered the program with the goal of earning his EMT license and has been impressed by the depth and pace of the medical knowledge he has gained in a relatively short amount of time.
His instructor, Mr. Christopher Connor, shared high praise for Emmet’s approach to learning:
“Emmet demonstrates a quiet confidence in everything he does and consistently supports his classmates. Emmet is adaptable and responds positively when asked to shift gears, showing a strong team-first mindset. Each day, he brings an ‘all-in’ attitude to class and sets a high standard for commitment and professionalism. Notably, he is the only student in class with a perfect attendance record.”
Outside of school, Emmet enjoys spending time with friends and playing lacrosse, balancing his academic responsibilities with extracurricular interests. Looking ahead, he plans to return to CATC next year to enroll in the Firefighting program as he works toward his long-term goal of becoming a paramedic. Emmet’s dedication, reliability, and genuine passion for emergency services make him a well-deserving Professional of the Month.

What a sweet and memorable day for our My First School preschoolers!

Today, our Early Childhood Education students led their preschool friends in a very special parade, complete with pajamas, favorite stuffed animals, and handmade crowns fit for royalty.

The parade made its way to our Auto Tech program, where students were greeted with a fun “tunnel” to walk through before proudly presenting a thank-you card to show their appreciation for a recent field trip.

Moments like these highlight the magic of learning, gratitude, and connection across our programs. We are so proud of our students big and small for making today so special!
