The Bark is our PTA newsletter, filled with important information about both our school and our larger community. This year in particular, expect updates on AISD changes as we learn about them. We'll also share community engagement and advocacy opportunities as we navigate those changes.

This newsletter is written for current and former Brentwood families, as well as members of our community - our neighbors, friends and extended family. We usually send it once a month, though we have 2 issues in August and we may send others as needed.

Here are a few things you might need as you get ready for the new school year.

📅 School starts on Tuesday, 8/18.

👩‍🏫 Check your email for teacher assignments on 8/13. Meet the Teacher is Friday, 8/14 at 4:00 at the school.

Please add Friday, August 14 to your calendar for this year’s Meet the Teacher event.

It runs from 4:00-5:30, and during that time you’ll have the opportunity to see your students’ new classrooms, meet their teachers, and drop off school supplies.

Teacher assignments go out via email on August 13.

If you pre-ordered school supplies, they’ll be ready for pickup at school during Meet the Teacher.

Summer is *not* almost over yet (still have more than a month!) but here are a few important back-to-school dates you'll need to know come August:

📚The first day of school this year is Tuesday, Aug 18.

🍧 Popsicles in the Park and kinder/preK playdate: Saturday, Aug 8
📝 Teacher assignments go out: Thursday, Aug 13
👩‍🏫 Meet the Teacher: Friday, Aug 14

Reminder: Order your fall school supplies right now!

It's time to order school supplies for next year!

You have 2 options for your student's school supplies:

1. Order them from the link below. They ship directly to the school as a bundle. You don't have to do any work or think about it again.

2. Wait for the supply lists to come out this summer and buy the items individually yourself, then bring them to school the week before school starts.

Isn't it easier to order them through our fundraiser? It costs about the same as buying the things individually, and saves you a lot of time.

July 1 seems like a long time from now. But you'll probably get busy with a hundred other things between now and then, you'll forget to order them in June, and then you'll wake up in the middle of night on August 10 in a panic because you forgot. Don't do that to yourself - just order them now if you can.

As you may know, our school community has launched a fundraising effort to keep Coach Tucker at Brentwood for the 2026-2027 school year.

Anyone who has spent time at Brentwood knows that Coach Tucker is far more than a PE teacher. She is a beloved member of our school community and helps create the joyful, welcoming environment that makes Brentwood such a special place.

Our goal is to raise $48,000 to help preserve this position, and thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from Brentwood families, we're so close to our goal!

Happy summer break!

One quick but important thing to put on your radar.

The Texas House Public Education Committee is holding a public hearing on Monday, June 1. They're taking public comments specifically on HB 2 school funding. You don't have to be an activist to participate- just a parent, a taxpayer, or someone who cares about kids.

There's a lot more detail on Konstella about what you can do and how you can get informed and participate. Please check that post for all the info.
