The beginning of the school year also marks the start of cold and flu season, so this week at the Avoca Public Library Storytime, we're welcoming Pottawattamie County Public Health to lead kids through a handwashing activity and read a fun book about staying healthy. If casual crafting is your thing, stop by the Avoca Public Library, Wednesday, September 16, at 4:30 p.m., for a chance to teach, learn, or practice crochet skills with others of all ages and expertise. If you’re new, there will be someone there to help you get started, and if you’re experienced, it’s a great way to get others hooked on the hobby! We'll have all necessary tools and materials on hand for you to use.

At the Avoca Public Library's Storytime, of course we're going to celebrate learning about letters, but this week we're also giving numbers their due. Join us this Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., as we read two funny number books, learn a song about numbers, and play a game with the library's giant yard dice!

This week at the Avoca Public Library's Wednesday morning Storytime, we'll be learning all about riding horses. We'll read two books about horses and make pool noodle hobby horses that we'll then race in the library's side yard! Join us this Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

This Wednesday will be a special tea party Storytime at the Avoca Public Library, as we brew fresh tea with leaves from the herb garden we planted the first week of Summer Reading. Feel free to dress fancy or come in play clothes, and enjoy a nice cup while we read a sweet book about friendship and tea sets.
