There wasn't much I agreed with Lindsey Graham on. Nobody's death should be celebrated, no matter how much you disagreed with them politically. It's possible to show some basic human decency towards people you do not agree with.

The 2026 season of Maine politics is wild. There's chaos, suspense, intrigue, and now double crossing and backstabbing.
It wasn't even official that Graham Platner was withdrawing before people he campaigned with were already shouting "this belongs to me." Wild. I think Platner would have been bad for the country and the state, but man, the establishment sure took him out.

This is wild. I don't agree with Platner on much, but man this is just a repeat of the 2024 presidential election.

I'm fairly surprised Graham Platner dropped out. He was leading an enthusiastic left populist movement, and just like in 2016, the establishment crushed it. Bernie was the face of that one, right up until the DNC installed Hillary. I used to respect Bernie until he bent the knee for her.

I'm not questioning the credibility of the claims against Platner. I'm questioning the timing. It's suspect that they surfaced a week before his deadline to drop out and be replaced.

Turns out the replacement won't even be a primary. The state party is running a convention, 500 delegates plus the full state committee, to pick the nominee by July 21. No unenrolled voters, no rank and file input beyond the delegates. If that process plays out the way these things usually do, expect a more establishment pick.

Shah, Bellows, and Jackson are reportedly getting in.

This whole thing is quite odd.
