G**O OF MAINE JEFF BEZOS!! 🚫 This Saturday, August 8 from 1-4 on Route 25 across from Dolloff Road in Gorham, join organizers and community members in protesting Amazon’s proposed 58,100 square foot warehouse distribution facility in the center of Gorham on land it is buying from the town.

Amazon’s distribution facilities have a track record of negative impacts on public health and the environment, including significantly increased traffic, runoff from paved areas, and pollution from lights, noise, and truck exhaust. Amazon is also known for exploiting its workers with low-paying jobs with dangerous and dehumanizing working conditions, while taking high-paying union jobs away from postal workers. Community members in Gorham have repeatedly spoken out against the proposed warehouse, but the town continues to move forward with the sale of the land. This event is designed for community members in Gorham and beyond to speak out against the warehouse and reimagine how the town land could be used.

On the 250th anniversary of the founding of the country we live in, we remember workers, indigenous people, enslaved people, and all those who have fought back against oppression under our government on American soil.

This country has never been free for all. Not for women, not for LGBTQIA+ people, for indigenous people, for black and brown people, for immigrants, or for poor people. The examples of resistance shown here don’t even scratch the surface, people have been fighting back since our founding. And we will continue to do so.

is endorsed by outgoing District 5 City Councilor and DSA member, Kate Sykes, and is running on a platform focused on traffic safety, affordable housing, ICE OUT, funding the schools, and making the rich pay their fair share.
