We'll still start things off with games, in and outside if weather permits. And Jim "Mr. Stinky Feet" Cosgrove's performance will be downstairs in the library. We hope to see you there!

We're excited to introduce Nugget, our Summer Reading Traveling Mascot, who your kiddo can win!

Here's how:
• Every Monday, Nugget will travel to a new business in Basehor
• Follow our social media for weekly hints about Nugget's whereabouts
• Visit the business, locate Nugget, and fill out a raffle ticket
• There will be 8 chances to fill out a raffle ticket
• The winner will be announced at the End of Summer Party on July 31st!

A big THANK YOU to our participating businesses and community partners for hosting Nugget over the summer. Look for hints about Nugget's first whereabouts soon!

This morning, we had our monthly staff meeting to get us ready for all things Summer Reading at the library. Registration is officially open, and we look forward to seeing you at programs and events all summer long. And don't forget our Summer Reading Kick-off with Mr. Stinky Feet next Friday!

What a pivotal and fascinating role Kansas played in the history of our nation!

After lunch in downtown Topeka, our bus headed over to Lecompton and the Territorial Capital Museum. We were treated to an engaging and informative “Bleeding Kansas” reenactment by volunteers of the Lecompton Historical Society and explored several objects of local lore, all donated to the museum.

We ended our day at Constitution Hall where one of the versions of the state’s constitution was drafted. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Kansas and the United States. We learned so much!

It’s a beautiful day for a bus trip to the past! First stop: the recently renovated Kansas Museum of History. With exhibits on everything from prehistoric times and Native American culture to modern advancements in technology, there’s so much to see and learn. We could have spent all day there!
