One of our officers got this text message on his work cell phone. This is a SCAM. Minnesota courts will not text you to pay for fines. Scammers use a sense of urgency or panic so that people are nervous and want to take care of the issue before getting added fines or a warrant. This is just a ploy to get you to send them money. I am happy to announce that our officer did NOT pay for the fake citation and promptly deleted the text message.

Today we celebrate the backbone of the Becker Police Department. Our Administrative Support Specialist, Kristen! Despite our patrol officers being the most visible arm of the department, Kristen manages many of the day to day operations here at Becker PD. Answering phones, permit to purchase backgrounds, vehicle permits, citation entry, records requests, transcriptions, training documentation and case management are just a few of her many tasks. We are grateful for her dedication to the Citizens of Becker and to supporting the officers of the Becker Police Department.

Introducing the Becker Police Department Safe Room — A New Community Resource
The Becker Police Department is proud to announce the opening of our new Safe Room, located inside the City Hall vestibule at 12060 Sherburne Ave SE. This resource is available to ANY member of our community during non-business hours — including nights, weekends, and holidays — no appointment needed.
What is the Safe Room?
The Safe Room is a private, secure space you can access when our building is otherwise closed. Once inside, you can lock the door yourself using a button on the wall. A phone in the room connects directly to Sherburne County Dispatch so you can reach help immediately. During regular business hours, anyone needing assistance is welcome to come directly to the Police Department front window.
Who is it for?
Anyone who needs a safe place — whether you're fleeing a dangerous situation, being followed, experiencing a crisis, or simply need somewhere secure to call for help after hours. You don't have to explain yourself to enter.
We believe a police department should be more than a place you call — it should be a place you can come to. This Safe Room is one more way we are committed to being here for our community when it matters most.
