Congratulations to Deputy Matthew Sanderson and Deputy Elijah Law on graduating from the 49th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program—a significant accomplishment that reflects their dedication, discipline, and commitment to public service.

Sergeant Nicholas Oettinger was later interviewed by Fox News, where he shared his perspective on the event and recognized the hard work and professionalism demonstrated by the graduating class!

Deputy Luna is a prior graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and brings valuable full-time law enforcement experience from the Bucksport Police Department. Prior to his law enforcement career, he served as a Corrections Officer with the Hancock County Jail, building a strong foundation in public safety and service.

Please join us in welcoming Deputy Darrin Moody back to our office as a full-time Deputy Sheriff!

Deputy Moody previously served with our office from 2009–2020 before accepting a Patrol Sergeant position with the Town of Bucksport. During his continued law enforcement career, he has served as a Police Training Officer and has also become a certified Taser Instructor.

We are excited to welcome Deputy Moody back to the team and look forward to the experience, leadership, and positive impact he will continue to bring to our community and our office!

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and everyone impacted during this incredibly difficult time.

We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Showcasing exceptional preparation, determination, and elite teamwork, Deputy Kyle Masse & K9 Puls tackled a massive wooded area search and successfully located multiple fi****ms connected to a recent felony crime.

Their dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment to protecting the community helped recover dangerous weapons and played a critical role in the investigation.

It is with great respect that Deputy Masse & K9 Puls are recognized for their outstanding performance, and commitment to excellence — once again proving why K9 teams are unmatched when duty calls!

Deputy Baker joins our office as a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and brings several years of full-time law enforcement experience with the Belfast Police Department, where he also served as a Training Officer.

Deputy Baker previously served in the United States Army and is the recipient of multiple awards and service decorations.
