It was a pleasure to welcome an outstanding group of Optometrists from the 131st District to my Harrisburg office recently. As a child of an optometrist myself, I have always understood the necessity of how the best visual care for our students can make the difference between academic success and academic failure for them!

Through all my years in office, I have been a strong advocate for the ideas put forth in HB 1077 which allows for more in-depth eye examinations for the school children of the Commonwealth.
I have first hand knowledge that the Optometrists in Pennsylvania understand that good vision is essential for everyone and that they know our students are no exception!

I was very happy to vote YES for HB 1077 when it finally passed on the House floor just a few weeks ago! Hopefully it will be passed into law to benefit the children of Pennsylvania!

The 131st District recently welcomed two more amazing Eagle Scouts into our midst!

Congratulations are in order for two residents of Lower Saucon Township, Casey Fluke and Colby Sell, who are members of Troop 311 in Hellertown. It was a beautiful day of celebration as friends and family gathered together for a court of honor ceremony in recognition of these wonderful young men who have attained the highest rank available in Scouting!

We are so proud of their achievement and know they will continue onto even higher heights! Colby and Casey are just two more examples of the finest of the finest!

Thank you to everyone involved in promoting the Scouting programs that raise up fine young people to move forward with strong character, talent, skill, and unlimited potential!

Congratulations to both of them and many thanks to their family, fellow scout members, and Scout leaders who have supported them in their journey.

Casey and Colby, I know I speak for so many when I say we are proud as can be that you are Eagle Scouts now and forever!

It was wonderful to be out with the Scouts at the Memorial Day event in East Greenville.

A moving program honoring the fallen heroes who gave their lives in service to our country was very inspiring for all who attended. The Red Hill Band played many beautiful patriotic songs, poetry was read, and a special speech was delivered by former Green Beret (and former mayor of Pennsburg) Charles Shagg, who gave much insight into what he experienced during the Vietnam War.

Everyone in attendance continues to be grateful for all military members and for their families as well. God bless America! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

In celebration of May being National Older Americans Month, I was happy to attend the Lehigh County Unsung Heroes Event.

An amazing group of senior citizens was recognized for their devotion to volunteering, supporting, and helping others in their communities. Some of the awardees have spent many, many years steadfastly showing up to inspire and assist others in having richer and more meaningful lives.

It is totally true that a long life provides many opportunities for older people to share their wisdom, joy, and love! It is never too late to reach out and help others. Everyone, regardless of age, is needed and has something special to contribute!

So letโ€™s sing out a song of thanks to the โ€œunsung older heroesโ€ that we encounter every day!

On Armed Forces Day 2026, an amazing ceremony took place in Red Hill. It was a ceremony to not only honor our veterans and military members, but also to mark the amazingly charitable donation of a brand new roof, free of charge, that Paramount Roofing Company provided to the Red Hill VFW building that is being established as a transitory home and center for outreach services to homeless veterans in the area.

Pictured with me are Michael Rothermel, owner of the roofing company, and Sen. Tracy Pennycuick. The generosity of Michael and Paramount Roofing is so heartwarming and inspiring! Thank you to every military member who has ever served our country, and thank you to everyone who supports our veteran community!

Good news! The 131st District has another Eagle Scout!! Congratulations to Landon Paar on becoming an Eagle Scout!

This outstanding young man from Troop 108 in East Greenville fulfilled his community service requirement by replacing the refreshment bar at The Open Link which I know is being enjoyed by so many in the community.

Pictured with Landon are his wonderful parents, David and Nora Paar. Family, friends and all the Scout Leaders are vitally important in helping the scouts grow and develop into the outstanding citizens they become.

Congratulations, Landon, we are so proud of your achievement and your service to others!

I was very happy to attend the graduation ceremony for the Communities in Schools graduates of 2026 that was recently held at DeSales University. A day of pride and celebration was in order for these amazing young people as they find themselves successfully graduating from some of our area high schools.

Thanks to the support and dedication of the Communities in Schools program, these amazing students have very bright futures ahead of them! As I always sayโ€ฆ โ€œWhen our students succeed, we all succeed!โ€

Congratulations to these wonderful 2026 graduates!
