Pennsylvania residents are being warned about a phishing scam impersonating MyChart, the online patient portal used by health care providers, including St. Lukeโ€™s University Health Network and Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Scammers are sending emails and text messages offering a fake โ€œMyChart Medicare Kitโ€ reward and trying to trick patients into clicking malicious links. These links could allow scammers to gain access to MyChart accounts and personal information.

Please remember:

โ€ข Be skeptical of unsolicited MyChart messages
โ€ข Do not click links, attachments or โ€œunsubscribeโ€ buttons
โ€ข Never provide your password or verification codes
โ€ข Do not reply to suspicious messages
โ€ข Only access MyChart through the official website or app provided by your health care organization

If you receive a suspicious message, delete it and log into MyChart directly through the official app or website. MyChart will not unexpectedly ask you for your password, financial information or other personal information.

If you believe you may have fallen victim to this scam, you can file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney Generalโ€™s Office or call 1-800-441-2555. You can also email [email protected].

St. Lukeโ€™s also recommends changing your MyChart password immediately if you interacted with a suspicious message and monitoring your accounts for unusual activity.

Please share this information with family and friends, especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

It was a great pleasure and joy to meet up with my friend Carol Anderson, CEO of Bloom for Women. A festive Open House and tour was held recently at their new beautiful office location.

Bloom is a wonderful nonprofit organization whose mission is helping, healing, and providing employment opportunities for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation. Bloom is helping so many women in the Lehigh Valley to find happiness, success, security and the dignity they so richly deserve!

As a member of the Human Trafficking Caucus in Harrisburg, I am excited to be part of the group that is working on legislation to address this very serious problem. Carol Anderson has been a stellar leader at the forefront of this issue and we are blessed to be working with her both locally and in Harrisburg!

Fruit growers across Pennsylvania who suffered significant crop losses from the April freeze may now apply for state assistance through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

The program provides up to $10 million in relief for eligible growers who experienced at least a 30% loss of expected production of apples, pears, peaches, cherries, grapes, berries and other eligible fruit crops due to freezing temperatures between April 1 and April 21, 2026.

All three counties in the 131st Legislative District โ€” Lehigh, Northampton and Montgomery โ€” are included in the USDA disaster declaration for the April freeze.

Applications are being accepted through Sept. 21. Eligible growers are encouraged to review the program guidelines and application instructions before applying.

I am happy to announce $560,000 in PAsmart grants will be awarded to three organizations serving the 131st Legislative District to expand career and technical education and workforce training opportunities.

Iโ€™m pleased to announce that 53 acres of farmland in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, will be permanently protected from future residential and commercial development through Pennsylvaniaโ€™s Farmland Preservation Program.

The farm, identified as County of Lehigh #2, is one of 34 farms totaling 2,565 acres approved for preservation by the State Agricultural Land Preservation Board. Together, these projects represent a combined investment of more than $9.1 million to preserve farmland across 16 counties in the Commonwealth.

Protecting farmland is an investment in the future of our communities and our Commonwealth. Preserving this farm will ensure these 53 acres remain available for agricultural production while helping maintain the rural character of Upper Milford Township for generations to come.

Through the Farmland Preservation Program, the Commonwealth partners with county and local governments and, in some cases, nonprofit organizations to purchase development rights from farmland owners. Conservation easements remain with the property even if ownership changes, ensuring preserved farms remain in agricultural production.

With this latest round, Pennsylvaniaโ€™s Farmland Preservation Program has now protected 6,759 farms totaling 669,854 acres in 58 counties. Since the program was established in 1988, more than $1.82 billion in state, county and local funds has been invested in preserving Pennsylvania farmland.

There was a fun and fabulous โ€œFirst Year Anniversaryโ€ celebration and ribbon cutting at Luxe Events & Designs at the Promenade in Center Valley. This amazing and gorgeous event venue is an available space where all kinds of parties, weddings, meetings and celebrations can take place and delight everyone who enters through their doors!

Barbara and Ken Mann (and their children) rolled out the red carpet and planned a party like no other to give thanks for a wonderful first year of business success! They are active members of the Southern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce and bring a wonderful business addition to the 131st District.

There was fabulous food, a professional photographer, a charm bar, a DJ and electric dancing with robots! Thank you to Barbara and Ken for welcoming the community to experience all the marvelousness that Luxe Events & Designs has to offer! May they have many more years of success and keep the Pennsylvania economy growing!

As an eighth-generation Pennsylvanian who has always cherished our beautiful farmland and peaceful way of life, I have been alarmed in recent months by the flood of data center proposals targeting some of our most bucolic communities. One of those communities is Upper Hanover Township in the Montgomery County portion of the 131st District.

I stand with my constituents who do not want data centers built near their homes or on rich farmland, and who do not want their water supplies strained or their energy costs driven higher.

In Harrisburg, I have voted โ€˜yesโ€™ on House Bill 2496 (zoning bill consideration period for data centers), House Bill 2198 (eliminating sales tax exemptions for equipment purchased by data centers) and House Bill 2359 (requiring transparency in data center development).

I will continue to support every piece of legislation that protects the property, quality of life and environment of the people I represent in the 131st District and across Pennsylvania.
The people whose lives will be most affected by these projects must have the right to be heard and to have their concerns respected. Local governing boards must also be held accountable.

Gov. Shapiroโ€™s executive order endorses the direction set by these House bills, and that is a welcome development. Still, more must be done to guarantee that peaceful Pennsylvania communities are not overrun by data center developers. Decisions about whether and where data centers are allowed to be built should rest with the citizens. Let the people decide.

Congratulations are in order for another Eagle Scout living in the 131st District!

We are so proud of new Eagle Scout Gavin Crouthamel of Green Lane who has shown exemplary leadership qualities, strength of character, commitment and dedication as he has risen to attain the highest and most prestigious rank in Scouting known as Eagle!

For his Eagle Service Project, Gavin created a Park Sign Kiosk for Isaac Smith Park in Green Lane. I know all visitors to the park will benefit from Gavinโ€™s handiwork. A graduate of Upper Perk, Gavin will be embarking on the next leg of his lifeโ€™s journey as he attends Shippensburg University where he will be majoring in finance.

Gavin is the son of Ryan and Bernadette Crouthamel of Green Lane. (Pictured with me here is Gavin and his Dad, Ryan.)

Congratulations to this great new Eagle Scout! We wish Gavin all the happiness and success in the world!
