💚 Thank You, Billerica! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the BSAP booth at Yankee Doodle today! We loved seeing so many families, kids, and community members, and it was especially meaningful to see so many people taking the time to learn more about Prevention, Recovery, and the resources available right here in our community.

One thing that really stood out was the number of residents asking for Narcan. 💜

We’ve come a long way.

There was a time when stigma kept people from talking openly about substance use, asking questions, or reaching out for life-saving resources. Today, we saw something different. People were comfortable walking up, asking for Narcan, learning how to use it, and talking about why having it available matters.

That is progress. That is Prevention. And that is what community looks like. 💚

As we recognize Recovery Month, we’re reminded that recovery is possible, prevention matters, and having resources in the hands of our residents can save lives.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us, support one another, and help make Billerica a community where there is no shame in asking for help and no stigma in carrying Narcan. 💜

⚠️ NEW FENTANYL THREAT NOTICE — PLEASE READ & SHARE ⚠️

Yesterday, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) issued a new Drug Threat Notice warning about the growing presence of highly potent fentanyl analogues, including carfentanil, fluorofentanyl, and methylfentanyl, in the illicit drug supply across the country.

Carfentanil can be up to 100 times more potent than fentanyl, and these substances can be found in counterfeit pills and mixed into other illicit drugs. ONDCP is urging the public to be aware of the risks and to be prepared to respond to an overdose with naloxone.

💜 One of the most important things you can do is carry Narcan (naloxone).

Narcan is available FREE and with NO QUESTIONS ASKED at the Narcan distribution boxes located at Billerica Town Hall.

You don't have to be struggling with addiction to carry Narcan. You may be able to save the life of a friend, family member, neighbor, or stranger.

If you encounter someone experiencing a suspected overdose:
CALL 911 • ADMINISTER NARCAN • STAY WITH THEM

Please take Narcan. Please carry it. Please share this information.

It could save a life. 💜

Her strength, courage, and willingness to share her story help bring hope to others who may be struggling and remind our community that no one has to walk this journey alone.

💜 BILLERICA GOES PURPLE FOR NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH 💜

September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength of those in recovery, honor the families and loved ones who support them, and remind our community that recovery is possible.

Billerica is going purple! 💜 Our community buildings and landmarks are lit in purple to show our support for individuals and families affected by substance use and to stand together against stigma.

Recovery happens every day, in every community, including right here in Billerica. Whether someone is taking their first step toward recovery or has been walking that path for years, they deserve support, compassion, and hope.

Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s replace stigma with understanding. And let’s make sure no one feels alone.

💙 Honoring Sgt. Ian Taylor 💙

BSAP was honored to attend the 1st Annual Sgt. Ian Taylor Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of Ian, a longtime BSAP member, colleague, and friend.

It was a beautiful day filled with friendship, camaraderie, and plenty of stories shared in Ian’s memory. While his absence is deeply felt, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate his life, his service, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him.

Ian will always be remembered and forever missed. 💙

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible and continues to keep Ian’s memory alive.

💜 International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31💜

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, honor the families and loved ones left behind, and stand with those who are still fighting for recovery.

Behind every statistic is a person, a son or daughter, mother or father, brother or sister, friend, neighbor, and loved one. Their lives mattered. Their stories mattered. And their families’ grief matters.

Today is also a reminder that addiction is a disease, recovery is possible, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Let’s replace stigma with compassion, judgment with understanding, and silence with action. No family should have to face this alone.

💜 Remember. Educate. Support. Prevent.
Because every life is worth saving, and every person deserves a chance at recovery.

🎆 Get Ready, Billerica... This Year's Fireworks Will Be One for the Record Books! 🇺🇸🎇
As we celebrate our involvement in America's 250th Anniversary celebration, we’re excited to share some incredible news!
According to Ocean State Pyrotechnics, the professional fireworks company we contracted—which produces more than 175 fireworks displays throughout June and July—Billerica's 250th Celebration will feature the largest fireworks display they will present this season. In fact, they have shared that our show will be one the largest in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island in terms of number of shells, design of show, and the size of the shells being launched.
The company has also indicated that our display is expected to exceed the scale of this year's Worcester fireworks show, making this a truly extraordinary celebration for our community.
This is a once-in-a-generation milestone, and we're pulling out all the stops to celebrate our town's rich history while also commemorating America's 250th Anniversary.
