๐ŸŽ† Get Ready, Billerica... This Year's Fireworks Will Be One for the Record Books! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ‡
As we celebrate our involvement in America's 250th Anniversary celebration, weโ€™re excited to share some incredible news!
According to Ocean State Pyrotechnics, the professional fireworks company we contractedโ€”which produces more than 175 fireworks displays throughout June and Julyโ€”Billerica's 250th Celebration will feature the largest fireworks display they will present this season. In fact, they have shared that our show will be one the largest in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island in terms of number of shells, design of show, and the size of the shells being launched.
The company has also indicated that our display is expected to exceed the scale of this year's Worcester fireworks show, making this a truly extraordinary celebration for our community.
This is a once-in-a-generation milestone, and we're pulling out all the stops to celebrate our town's rich history while also commemorating America's 250th Anniversary.
๐Ÿ“… Join us on Thursday, July 2nd, for this historic celebration!

Location: Vietnam Veterans Park, Treble Cove Rd. Billerica Ma

๐ŸŽ† The fireworks display begins promptly at 9:00 PM.
Bring your family, bring your friends, and be part of an unforgettable evening as we light up the sky in celebration of America's 250th!
We can't wait to celebrate with all of you. See you there! ๐ŸŽ†โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

This is what recovery looks like! ๐Ÿ’œ

It was a perfect day for the 6th Annual She Will Rise: The Sabrina Best Foundation Celebrate Recovery Wiffleball Tournament at PHR.

This event is about so much more than the games being played on the field. Itโ€™s about hope, healing, second chances, and showing our community that recovery is possible.

Today was a powerful reminder that people do recover from addiction and can go on to lead full, productive, and meaningful lives. Every player, volunteer, family member, and supporter in attendance helped send that message loud and clear.

Thank you to The Sabrina Best Foundation for continuing to create opportunities to celebrate recovery, break down stigma, and inspire others who may still be struggling. Your work is making a difference in countless lives.

The Billerica Substance Awareness & Prevention Committee mourns the loss of our dear friend, colleague, mentor, and advocate, Mike Higgins.

For decades, Mike dedicated his life to helping others. From his years as a Probation Officer in Woburn District Court to co-founding the groundbreaking HEAT Program, Mike was a pioneer in treating substance use disorder with compassion, dignity, education, and hope. Long before many understood the scope of the opioid crisis, Mike was on the front lines connecting individuals and families with recovery resources and reminding people that addiction is not a moral failure, but a public health issue deserving of care and support.

In Billerica, Mike became much more than a Substance Abuse Coordinator. He became a trusted voice, a steady hand, and a source of comfort for countless residents and families navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Through his work with BSAP, local public safety officials, schools, treatment providers, and community organizations, Mike helped build a stronger and more compassionate community.

Mike never sought recognition for his work. What mattered most to him was helping people find hope, recovery, and a second chance. His impact cannot be measured simply by programs created or meetings attended, but by the lives he touched, the families he supported, and the countless people who are still here today because someone like Mike cared enough to answer the phone, listen without judgment, and help guide them toward recovery.

To many, Mike was not only a colleague but family. His wisdom, humor, kindness, and unwavering dedication will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the Billerica Substance Awareness & Prevention Committee, we extend our deepest condolences to Mikeโ€™s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

His legacy of compassion, service, and hope will live on in this community for generations to come.

Rest in peace, Mike. Thank you for everything.
