This year's Community Day at Blairs Fire and Rescue is a special one! Please join us on Saturday, September 12th from 10am-2pm at our Fire Station on US 29 to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. It has been our honor to serve this community for the past 50 years, and we would love to have all of our neighbors come out to help us celebrate. Join us for a fun, family event!

🔥 Working Fire 🔥

At 1:54 this afternoon BFR was alerted to a house fire in the Spring Garden community. Units arrived to find a single family home with fire in the basement. The fire was extinguished and the home was searched locating a dog which was removed by our personnel. One patient was transported to the hospital with burn injuries, in stable condition. BFR responded with an Engine, Tanker, Command Unit, Transport Unit, and 16 personnel. Other departments that operated: Riceville-Java, Keeling, Chatham, and Gretna. The incident is under investigation by PCPS FMO.

08/04/2026

At 11:22 this morning units from BFR and mutual aid companies were alerted to a structure fire in our first due. Members arrived a short time later to find an outbuilding, carport, and two cars on fire with immediate exposures. The fire was extinguished quickly and command returned our mutual aid partners with the exception of a tanker from Kentuck. No injuries were reported. BFR responded with an Engine, Tanker, Utility, Ambulance, Utility, Command Unit, and 15 personnel.

07/30/2026

Just before 6 this evening BFR and mutual aid companies were alerted to a structure fire on Spring Garden Road. Engine 342 arrived to find several outbuildings on fire. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries. BFR responded with an Engine, Tanker, Utility, Command Unit, and Ambulance. Chatham and Keeling Fire Departments assisted our units as well. A total of 17 BFR members operated or stood by the firehouse.

07/22/2026

Serious Crash on Highway 29

At 1:40 PM BFR was dispatched to the 9000 block of Highway 29 for a motor vehicle crash. Command 34 arrived to find one vehicle down an embankment with the driver trapped. The Rescue Engine arrived and stabilized the vehicle, and members then performed a sidewall removal to access the patient. Due to the distance down the embankment, a rope system was used to bring the patient up to the roadway where our EMS providers took over care. The patient was transported to SOVAH-Danville in stable condition. BFR responded with an Engine, Rescue Engine, Transport Unit, Command Unit, and 13 personnel. PCPS Medic 3 assisted with an ALS provider during transport.

Engine 342 extinguished a vehicle fire in the 1500 block of East Witt Road this evening.

Before noon Command 34, Utility 349, and 6 members responded to a working fire in Callands. Blairs units assisted members from other departments across the county on a well-involved fire on two floors of the home.

As units were operating on the structure fire, Engine 342, Transport 344, and 8 members operated on a brush fire in our first due area. We were assisted by Mount Hermon, Ringgold, Chatham, and the VA Department of Forestry. This was the 7th call of the day for our department.
