Before noon Command 34, Utility 349, and 6 members responded to a working fire in Callands. Blairs units assisted members from other departments across the county on a well-involved fire on two floors of the home.

As units were operating on the structure fire, Engine 342, Transport 344, and 8 members operated on a brush fire in our first due area. We were assisted by Mount Hermon, Ringgold, Chatham, and the VA Department of Forestry. This was the 7th call of the day for our department.

Blairs Fire and Rescue hosted our annual golf tournament today at Cedars Country Club. The weather was beautiful and the balls were flyin' long and straight. A great time was had by all, and we look forward to hosting this event again next year.

At 1AM BFR was alerted second due for a reported structure fire in Mount Hermon’s first due area. Units arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the home and fire in the basement, first floor, and throughout the attic space. The fire was extinguished and searches were completed and clear. No injuries reported. BFR responded with an Engine, Ladder Truck, Command Unit and 10 personnel.

🔥 Working Fire 🔥

Just before 2 this afternoon, BFR along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to an outside fire on Old Richmond Road. While enroute the incident was upgraded to a structure fire. Units arrived to find a manufactured home, as well as several vehicles, and approximately 4 acres on fire. The fire was placed under control and searches of the structure were completed and clear. No injures reported. Blairs responded with an Engine, Rescue Engine, Tanker, Brush Truck, Utility, Transport Unit, Command Vehicle, and 23 personnel. Assistance was received from Kentuck, Ringgold, Mount Hermon, Keeling, Laurel Grove, Gretna, Mount Cross, and the VA Department of Forestry. This was the 618th call for service for BFR so far in 2026.

*Highway 29 South Closed*

The Rescue Engine, Engine, and Ladder Truck are operating on a traffic crash involving a tractor-trailer. U.S. Highway 29 South at Toy Lane is closed, and will be closed, for an extended period of time. Traffic is being re-routed at Dry Fork Road by Chatham Volunteer Fire Department.

Engine 342, Tanker 346, and the Chief responded to a working fire this morning. Blairs units were dispatched just before 7AM to Riceville-Java’s first due area. Members assisted other units with fire attack and overhaul. The Tanker operated in the water shuttle. Units operated for 3 hours before returning to quarters.

As members were finishing up from the stew fundraiser, the Rescue Engine w/6, Utility w/3, and the Chief responded to a crash with entrapment in the Kentuck community. BFR units assisted members from Ringgold with stabilization and extrication. While units were tied up on this incident, one of our Transport units handled a traumatic accident resulting in a flyout.

On Saturday evening, members, families, friends, and guests of Blairs Fire and Rescue gathered at Atkinson Farms to celebrate the accomplishments of our organization in 2025, as well as install our officers for 2026. Last year was a very successful year for our department. Blairs Fire and Rescue answered 1795 calls for service, including 27 working structure fires and 19 entrapments. We maintained a 100% call coverage rate for the entire year. Congratulations to our award winners as well as each of our members who dedicate their time to our organization making us who we are. Our membership is the most important part of our operation and the community is blessed to have such an outstanding group of people protecting them. As always, we would like to thank our families, friends, and community for supporting this organization.
