Substance Use Disorder affected Taysa and her daughters. But today, they are all in recovery, and Taysa says “I’ve learned a new way to guide my family. I’ve learned skills to share with others. I bought my own home last year, a home for all of us, that’s safe and loving.” Join us at weareworthwhile.org to read Taysa’s story.

You are not alone. Recovery from alcohol, cannabis, opioid, or other drug use is in reach. Call or text 802.234.1550 to talk with a peer in recovery.

Today is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Unused medications can be easy to forget about, but leaving them in the medicine cabinet can create an opportunity for accidental poisoning or misuse.

Take a few minutes today to check your home for medications that are expired or no longer needed. Safely disposing of them is one simple way to help protect children, teens and others in your household.

Cleaning out your medicine cabinet may only take a few minutes, but it can make your home a little safer.

The conversations you have with young people matter. Parents, caregivers, teachers and other trusted adults can help prevent underage drinking and other substance use by talking early, listening and keeping the conversation going.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to start the conversation.

SAMHSA’s Talk. They Hear You. campaign offers tools and resources to help.

Preventing prescription medication misuse is something we can all play a part in.

Whether you're a parent, caregiver, grandparent or community member, taking steps to safely manage medications can help protect the people around you.

The Talk. Track. Secure. campaign reminds us that prevention doesn't always require big changes. Sometimes it starts with a conversation, checking the medications in your home or purchasing a lockbox for safe storage.

When more households practice medication safety, we help create healthier, safer communities for everyone.

What small step can you take today?

The words we use matter.

Stigma around substance use can keep people from reaching out for help when they need it. We can all play a role in changing that by using respectful, person-first language and challenging the stereotypes that surround substance use and recovery.

Changing the conversation is one step toward creating a community where people feel supported rather than judged.

Watch this short video to learn more about how the language we use can help end stigma.

Gift-giving season will soon be upon us.

While it can seem easy to just pick someone up a bottle of alcohol, you may not know if that’s appropriate. Make your gift thoughtful and personal this year—and make it alcohol-free.

Know a wintertime runner? Get them a new water bottle. A cheese-head? Gift them some Vermont cheddar. A music fan? A vintage LP could make them smile.
