🚧FAIRFIELD🚧

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, TxDOT’s contractor will permanently close Exit 197 on southbound I-45 as crews begin removing the existing exit ramp. This work is needed to complete the new southbound frontage road alignment construction at the US 84 intersection.

Drivers traveling southbound on I-45 should use the newly constructed Exit 197B to access US 84. Detour signage and message boards will be in place to help guide traffic through the area.

The purpose of this project is to improve traffic flow and safety along the I-45 frontage road.

🚧Big 6 Full Closure – September 1🚧

There will be a full overnight closure on the southbound mainlane between Harvey Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway beginning 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, until 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2.

All traffic must exit through the southbound Harvey Road exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramps just north of Harvey Road and Southwest Parkway will be closed.

There has been an update to the schedule for this week's Big 6 closures:

✅Monday, August 31

Southbound mainlanes between Briarcrest Drive and Harvey Mitchell Parkway – Full Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All traffic must exit through the southbound University Drive exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramps just north of Briarcrest Drive, University Drive, Harvey Road, and Southwest Parkway will be closed.

✅Wednesday, September 2

Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Additionally, the southbound frontage road inside left turn only lane will be closed at the Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection. Northbound traffic can access Texas Avenue through Southwest Parkway.

✅Thursday, September 3

Northbound and southbound mainlanes between Southwest Parkway and Briarcrest Drive – Single-lane Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Northbound and southbound mainlanes left lanes will be closed to set traffic barrier and for dirt work in the center median.

Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Additionally, the southbound frontage road inside left turn only lane will be closed at the Texas Avenue/Deacon Drive intersection.

📅No closures are scheduled beginning Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7, due to the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Recall Alert!

Britax Child Safety, Inc. is recalling certain B-Safe Gen 2, B-Safe Gen 2 Flexfit, B-Safe Gen 2 Flexfit Plus, B-Safe 35, B-Safe Ultra, and Endeavours child seats. A screw in the child seat carrying handle may come loose, causing the handle to partially detach.

The carry handle may detach on one side, creating a fall hazard and potential risk of injury to the child. The condition is expected to be readily detectable by caregivers during normal use, as the handle may visibly separate and/or feel loose before any potential detachment.

The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by October 19, 2026. Owners may contact Britax customer service at 888-427-4829.

Southbound mainlanes between Briarcrest Drive and Harvey Road – Full Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All traffic must exit through the southbound University Drive exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramps just north of Briarcrest Drive, University Drive, Harvey Road, and Southwest Parkway will be closed.

Northbound mainlanes between University Drive and Briarcrest Drive – Single-lane Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound mainlanes right lane will be closed for striping operations. Additionally, the northbound Briarcrest Drive exit ramp will be closed. Traffic can access Briarcrest Drive through the University Drive exit ramp.

✅Sunday, August 30

Northbound mainlanes between Harvey Road and Briarcrest Drive – Full Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All traffic must exit through the northbound University Drive exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just south of Briarcrest Drive. Additionally, the northbound entrance ramps just south of Harvey Road and University Drive will be closed.

🚧NAVASOTA - UPDATED 🚧
The Business 6 (BS 6) northbound flyover bridge will remain closed through Wednesday, Sept.16, 2026, for steel beam painting, weather permitting.

In addition, a lane closure on SH 6 southbound will remain in place during the painting operation to allow crews to safely complete the work and prevent debris from entering the roadway.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.

Any changes to the schedule will be shared as updates become available. We appreciate your patience as this work is completed.
