🚧Big 6: Temporary Ramp Closure June 12🚧

Beginning this Friday, June 12, the southbound Barron Road exit ramp will be temporarily closing. This closure will remain in place until Friday, July 3.

Drivers will need to use the Rock Prairie exit to acess Barron Road. Also note, drivers at the Texas Avenue and Deacon Drive intersection will not be able to access Barron Road from the southbound SH 6 entrance ramp. Instead, they should stay on the frontage road to reach Barron Road.

Please continue to stay alert, follow posted speed limits, and plan for extra time in your commute!

Here are the currently scheduled overnight closures for the week of June 9-12:

âś…Sunday, June 9
• Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Traffic can access Texas Avenue by turning left on Southwest Parkway.

âś…Monday, June 8
• Northbound mainlanes between Rock Prairie Road and Southwest Parkway – Full Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All northbound traffic must exit through the Rock Prairie exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just south of Southwest Parkway. Additionally, the northbound entrance ramps south of Barron Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway will be closed. Traffic may access Texas Avenue through Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Please note that ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.

• Northbound mainlanes between Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road – Single-lane Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound mainlane right lane will be closed. Traffic entering the mainlanes just south of Southwest Parkway will be directed to the left lane to continue northbound on the mainlanes. Additionally, the northbound exit ramp and the northbound entrance ramp just south of Harvey Road will be closed.

• Northbound mainlanes between Southwest Parkway and University Drive – Full Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All northbound traffic must exit through the Harvey Road exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just south of University Drive. Additionally, the northbound entrance ramps just south of Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road will be closed. Please note that ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.

• Southbound mainlanes between Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road to Briarcrest Drive – Full Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All southbound traffic must exit through the William J. Bryan Parkway exit and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Briarcrest Drive. Additionally, the entrance ramps just north of Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road and William J. Bryan Parkway will be closed. Please note that ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.

âś…Wednesday, June 10
• Northbound mainlanes between Briarcrest Drive to Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road – Full Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All northbound traffic must exit through the Willaim J. Brian Parkway exit and may re-enter the mainlanes just south of Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road. Additionally, the entrance ramps south of Briarcrest Drive and William J. Bryan Parkway will be closed. Please note that ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.

• Northbound Texas Avenue – Exit Ramp Closure – 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for paving operations. Traffic can access Texas Avenue by turning left on Southwest Parkway.

• Southbound mainlanes between Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Barron Road – Full Closure – 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
All southbound traffic must exit through the southbound Rock Prairie exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Barron Road. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramps just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Texas Avenue will be closed. Please note that ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.
‼️TEMPORARY EXIT CLOSURE: Following the completion of this closure the southbound Barron Road exit ramp will remain closed until Friday, July 3, 2026.

Weather pending, TxDOT will have overnight closures on IH 45 southbound the nights of Thursday, June 4, and Sunday, June 7. These closures are needed to perform roadway maintenance on the mainlanes.

✅IH 45 Southbound Closure – Thursday Night, June 4, 2026:
8 p.m. to 5 a.m. - IH 45 Southbound will be closed at Exit 118 (SH 75/FM 1791). Traffic will detour to the IH 45 frontage road and will be able to re-enter IH 45 at the entrance ramp across from Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

✅IH 45 Southbound Closure – Sunday Night, June 7, 2026:
8 p.m. to 5 a.m. - IH 45 Southbound will be closed at Exit 113 (Near Bill Fick Ford). Traffic will detour to the IH 45 frontage road and will be able to re-enter IH 45 at the entrance ramp across from Huntsville Toyota.

Message boards are in place to alert drivers, and law enforcement will be on site to help keep traffic moving.

There will be a full overnight closure of the southbound mainlanes between University Drive and Harvey Mitchell Parkway with the full closure beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, until 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.

đź•›Please note that entrance ramp closures will begin at 7:30 p.m.

All southbound mainlane traffic must exit through the southbound Harvey Road exit ramp and may re-enter the mainlanes just north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Additionally, the entrance ramps north of University Drive, Harvey Road and Southwest Parkway will be closed.

🚧There will be additional single-lane closures:

- Northbound frontage road left lane will be closed between Rock Prairie Road and Sebesta Road for striping operations beginning 7:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. Additionally, the eastbound Rock Prairie “left turn only” lane will be closed.

- Northbound mainlane right lane will be closed between Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road beginning 7:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. Additionally, the following ramps will be closed: northbound entrance ramp south of Southwest Parkway, Harvey Road exit ramp, northbound entrance ramp south of Harvey Road, and the University Drive exit ramp. Frontage road traffic may re-enter the mainlanes north of University Drive.

🚧ROBERTSON COUNTY 🚧

TxDOT will temporarily close FM 2293 between Joe Peach Road and West Sammy’s Road beginning Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Robertson County.

This closure is needed so crews can install two drainage crossings as part of an ongoing project. The road is expected to be close for about four days. During this time, drivers will be directed to a signed detour around the work zone. Knife River Corporation – South is the contractor on the project.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time or choose an alternate route if possible.

Beginning Monday, June 1, contractors will begin seal coat operations on US 290 in Washington County. Work is expected to take approximately 8.5 days, weather permitting.

Additionally, mobile crews will be out starting this week preparing the roadway for work to begin. Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through work zones.
