What began as a transportation challenge following the 2013 Texas A&M University vs. Alabama game has become more than a decade of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

The Kyle Field Gameday Transportation Plan brings together the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Texas A&M Transportation Services, the City of College Station - Government, the City of Bryan - Government, Texas A&M Athletics, law enforcement, public safety agencies and other university partners to help move thousands of visitors safely and efficiently on gamedays.

Since its implementation in 2014, the partnership has continued to evolve, using traffic analysis, technology, traveler information and after-action reviews to improve mobility around Kyle Field and the surrounding community.

More than a decade later, one of the plan’s greatest successes is the partnership behind it.

How does Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) affect road performance?

When RAP is incorporated into PG binders, it effects pavement performance and durability. Researchers at the Center for Transportation Research, UT Austin, with support from the Texas Department of Transportation, evaluated the elasticity and polymer content of RAP-containing binders to better understand this impact. Their findings will help develop the specification language needed to guide the use of RAP in TxDOT materials.

Kay Fitzpatrick, senior research fellow at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, is the 2027 recipient of the Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lectureship. Throughout her career, Fitzpatrick has advanced the fields of roadway geometric design, pedestrian traffic control devices, and transportation safety through research that has shaped transportation practice across the United States.

From local community involvement to national service.

Texas A&M Transportation Institute Research Specialist, John Habermann, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking, where he will help shape national strategies to combat human trafficking across the transportation sector.
