Buckfield Fire Department Buckfield is recognized for its dedicated Volunteer Fire Department. Highly trained & skilled, they set a model for interacting & protecting our community.

The Buckfield Fire Department (BFD) is a combination part time/paid on call department that serves the towns of Buckfield and Hartford Maine. BFD shares with Buckfield Rescue two firefighter/EMT's during the daytime hours of 6am-6pm Mon-Fri who respond to all fire and medical emergencies with volunteer firefighters to supplement. Our firefighters respond to approx 125 fire related emergencies eac

h year ranging from simple community service calls, to structural fires, to automobile accidents. Members of BFD also belong to the Buckfield Fire Fighters Association which receives and manages donations for equipment, training, and other items and activities not funding by tax dollars. Some of these activities include donations for sick and injured family members, purchase of the new flag pole in front of the station, and tshirts and sweatshirts for our members. For those who haven't received the word yet. Our region is under a tornado watch until 7pm this evening. Heavy rains and severe thunderstorms are also creating flash flood warnings. Please get to a safe location and hang tight for a few hours. This will be over by sunset and the skys might just give us a beautiful evening!

The fire and explosion at a Maine lumber mill that killed one firefighter and injured several other people earlier this month involved combustible dust, according to new information released today by the Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal.

Combustible dust is a significant yet often misunderstood industrial hazard that can result in flash fires and even explosions under certain conditions.

Buckfield FF's assisted Hebron Maine Fire Department with a "vehicle fire" off Rt 124 on Thursday afternoon. Had this been a few weeks ago this would have easily turned into a considerable woods fire. Luckily, ground and weather conditions were on our side!
