Home Again L.A. Home Again L.A. is a non-profit providing temporary assistance, hospitality and case management for families with children experiencing homelessness.

Home Again L.A., formerly Family Promise of the Verdugos, formed in March 2008 and opened our doors to families in July 2010. We are one of over 200 chapters across the country affiliated with Family Promise, a non-profit committed to helping low-income families nationwide to achieve lasting independence. Family Promise helps mobilize communities to provide safe shelter, meals, and support service

We were delighted to see so many of our major donors gather last week at the Universal Studio City Credit Union. From longtime volunteers from our partnering congregations to corporate partners like Disney and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital to individuals who have become strong advocates for our work like the Korb family, the Ries family and Sandra Thompson. At Home Again LA, we believe that every person deserves to be welcomed with dignity, respect, and hope. We are excited to share some of the beautiful renovations taking place at the Pantry Facility! Recent improvements include a fresh exterior paint job, new flooring in our soon-to-be Computer Lab, and the installation of a brand-new black awning at the front of our building.

The new awning is more than just an aesthetic upgrade, it provides critical shade and protection from the sun and rain for the families and individuals we serve, especially during our daily lunch distribution program. These enhancements help create a safer, more welcoming environment for our clients while breathing new life into a facility that serves hundreds of households each year.

Every improvement reflects our commitment to ensuring that those facing hardship are greeted with compassion and a sense of belonging the moment they arrive.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Home Again LA and invest in spaces that restore hope, dignity, and opportunity for our community.

We are grateful to local grocery stores and congregations who provide items that we are able to put in our lunch bags. Know someone in need have them visit our Pantry for more information to register or to inquiry about the program.

"I never imagined that missing one paycheck could put my family at risk of losing our home." ~ Chavez Family

In August, the Chavez family experienced an unexpected job loss that quickly turned into a housing crisis. As the bills piled up and rent became due, they found themselves falling behind with no idea how they would catch up. The fear of eviction and uncertainty about where their children would sleep weighed heavily.

Through our LA County Eviction Prevention Program, the team helped the family secure the financial assistance needed to prevent eviction and keep a roof over the family's heads. But HALA didn't stop there. Home Again LA connected the parents with employment opportunities and resources so they can regain independence and build a stable future.

"Today, instead of facing homelessness, we have hope. We have a plan. Most importantly, we have the opportunity to move forward."

With support from our staff, volunteers, grocery store partners HALA was able to provide 857 lunches to 113 unduplicated individuals this past month. Our daily lunch program is available Monday through Friday from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

With support from grocery stores like Trader Joe's, Vallarta, Amazon Now, Costco, Grocery Outlet, and others we are able to provide clients with lunches that include sandwiches, salads, a drink, desserts, fruits and more.
