Albee Township Fire Department

10/08/2026

❤️ A few days ago, our department responded to a house fire that left a local family with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Thankfully, Melissa and her children all made it out safely, but unfortunately, they lost everything.

We wanted to share their GoFundMe in hopes that our community can come together and help this family get back on their feet.

If you're able to donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated. If not, even sharing this post could help!

Hello, I am a neighbor of Melissa Moldenhauer and her family. Last nig… ashley specht needs your support for Coming together to help Melissa and her kids

🚒 TRAINING NIGHT🌙
Picture this. It’s a January morning. Your kid is driving to school, the roads are slick, and for just a second their eyes drop to their phone. That’s all it takes. They rear end a school bus and slide underneath it. Now the weight of that bus is sitting on their car with them pinned inside.
That’s the scenario Albee Township Fire Department trained on this week and we didn’t do it alone.
We invited Spaulding Township Fire Department and Maple Grove Fire Department to work it with us because a call like this is bigger than any one department. When the tones drop for something this size, mutual aid isn’t a backup plan it’s the plan!
Crews put our Rescue 42 struts to work alongside equipment from Spaulding and Maple Grove to lift and stabilize the bus. Midway through the evolution, we ran into exactly the kind of problem training is meant to expose: our original plan to remove the driver’s door wasn’t going to work. The weight of the bus had the doors pinned shut.
So we changed course.
Crews removed the trunk lid and rear seats and worked through the back of the car to reach the driver.
That’s the real lesson of a night like this. Plans change. The crews who train together are the crews who can adapt together. Getting hands-on experience with each other’s equipment before the emergency means nobody is trying to figure it out at 3:00 in the morning on the side of the road.
A huge thank you to Mike's Wrecker for sending out the vehicles used in this training and helping make the scenario possible. Having real vehicles to lift, stabilize, cut and work around gives our firefighters an opportunity you simply can’t recreate in a classroom.
And thank you again to Spaulding Township Fire Department and Maple Grove Fire Department for coming out and training alongside us.
Good training. Good people. Good partners to have when it matters most. 🚒

A huge thank you to United Financial Credit Union for donating a Carter Kit to the Albee Township Fire Department! ❤️🚒

This bag is filled with tools and resources that can help provide comfort and support to individuals with autism or other special needs during an emergency situation. It is an incredible resource for our department to have available when responding to calls in our community.

We truly appreciate United Financial for thinking of our department and making this donation possible. And a big thank you to our firefighters who took the time to come up to the station last night to receive the kit and represent our department!

We are very grateful for the continued support of our community. ❤️🧑‍🚒

🏆🚒 FIRST PLACE… AGAIN! 🚒🏆
We’re starting to think our guys just don’t know how to lose this year! 😂
Last night, some of our Albee firefighters headed over to Taymouth Township Fire Department for their Water Volleyball event. This was our first time being invited to participate, and apparently we decided to make our first appearance count — bringing home FIRST PLACE! 🥇💦🚒
A huge thank you to Taymouth Township Fire Department for inviting us out and putting on such a fun event. We had a great time competing, laughing, and spending the evening with our fellow firefighters.
Another trophy for Albee! 🏆 We’re pretty proud of these guys!

One of our favorite visits is back! ❤️🚒
We were so happy to welcome Community Ties South back to the Albee Fire Department for another fun-filled day at the station!
There were fire trucks to explore, hoses to spray, plenty of laughs, and of course a few future firefighters in the making. 😉 Seeing the excitement on everyone’s faces is something our crew looks forward to every year.
We’re proud to serve our community in more ways than one, and days like this are a pretty great reminder of what “community” is all about.
Thank you, Community Ties South, for coming to hang out with us again this year. We hope you had as much fun as we did! ❤️
Same time next year? 🚒💦

Behind every fire scene is a firefighter carrying more than just gear.

This photo was taken today at the Crystal Lake Apartments in Swartz Creek, where firefighters worked tirelessly to battle a devastating three-alarm apartment fire.

According to officials, 12 nearby apartment units are considered a total loss due to fire and smoke damage, leaving multiple families displaced. The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Genesee County Emergency Management Division were also on scene, providing assistance and support to residents affected by the fire.

While the flames may be out, the emotional weight often remains. This powerful image captures a firefighter taking a quiet moment after the intense response. We don't know exactly what they witnessed or what they're feeling, but it's a reminder that first responders are human too.

They run toward danger when everyone else is running away. They work through extreme heat, exhaustion, and heartbreaking situations to protect complete strangers.

Please keep the displaced residents, this firefighter, and all of the first responders who answered today's fire in your thoughts. Thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to serving your community. ❤️🚒
