On 08/10/2026, members of Bushkill Fire Company responded to the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for a report of an injured hiker along one of its recreation trails.

Due to the remote location and terrain, crews utilized specialized equipment to safely access, stabilize, and remove the patient from the trail.

Over the past week, our members had the opportunity to attend several community events. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We always appreciate the opportunity to connect with the community.

08/01/26: Members attended both Middle Smithfield & Tamiment Community Days.

08/04/26: National Night Out held at Dingman’s Park.

08/05/26: Members from Station 24, Bushkill Emergency Corps & Lehman Pike EMS attended an S.O.A.R. training held at the East Stroudsburg North Campus. This training was held by the National Tactical Officers Association.

On July 29th at 16:34, the Bushkill Fire Company Dive Team was dispatched as mutual aid into Monroe County for a reported submerged vehicle with one occupant unaccounted for.

Our divers located the submerged vehicle and assisted with the recovery of the vehicle from the lake.

Units cleared the scene and returned available at 18:47.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragedy.

Today, we recognize one of our own as he begins an incredible new chapter.

Since joining Bushkill Fire Company as a junior member, Jake has dedicated countless hours to serving our community. Through training, emergency responses, community events, and everything in between, he has consistently demonstrated dedication, selflessness, and a willingness to answer the call whenever needed.

While we’re sad to see him leave, we couldn’t be more proud as he heads off to United States Army Basic Training. The same work ethic, commitment, and sense of service that made him an outstanding firefighter will undoubtedly make him an exceptional Soldier.

On behalf of everyone at Bushkill Fire Company, we thank you for your service to our department and wish you nothing but success in the journey ahead. Stay safe, work hard, and know that your firehouse family will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Training never stops 🪢 🤿

Over the past few weeks, our members have been sharpening their skills through a variety of rope rescue training, focusing on building proficiency, teamwork, and confidence in technical rescue operations. From patient packaging and hauling systems to rigging and rescue techniques, our members continue to prepare for the unexpected.

In addition to our in-house training, dive team members also had the opportunity to join Westfall Township Fire Department for dive training. Working alongside neighboring agencies allows us to strengthen mutual aid partnerships, share knowledge, and ensure we’re prepared to respond together when our communities need us most.

This weekend kept our volunteers extremely busy as severe storms moved through our community, resulting in a high volume of emergency calls.

Before the storm crews attended Pike County’s 4th of July parade!
Throughout the storm, our volunteers responded to numerous incidents ranging from downed trees and utility wires, storm damage to structures, fire alarms, water rescues, EMS assists, structure fires, and carbon monoxide alarms.

We are aware that many members of our community are continuing to deal with storm damage and that a significant power outage still exists throughout our area. We understand the challenges this creates, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as utility crews work diligently to restore service and improve conditions.

As these efforts continue, please use caution around downed trees and power lines, treat all downed wires as energized, and avoid unnecessary travel through affected areas whenever possible.

Stay safe, and as always, if you have an emergency, call 9-1-1.

With temperatures expected to climb throughout the week, it’s important to take extra precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors from heat-related illnesses.

💧 Heat Safety Tips:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours (typically 10 AM–4 PM).
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a minute.
• Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
• In the event of an emergency call 9-1-1 immediately.

A few simple precautions can make all the difference. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe.

Did you know our department has two boats that cover 15 miles on the Delaware River? 🫧🤿

Over the past few weeks, members of the Bushkill Fire Company Dive Team have spent countless hours on the river sharpening the skills that make our team effective when every second counts.

Divers have been working on water operations, search techniques, and maintaining proficiency in the challenging conditions they may encounter during real-world incidents.

Training also extended beyond the divers in the water. Members are spending time developing the skills needed to safely transport, launch, and operate the boat on the river.

Every role on the dive team is important. Whether underwater, operating the boat, or backing the trailer down the launch.

Continuous training ensures our team can respond efficiently and safely during water rescue and recovery incidents. We are proud of the dedication our volunteers continue to show by investing their time in training.

Please always remember to be safe & wear a life jacket while on the river!

06/24/2026 – Dispatched for a vehicle fire endangering a structure on Whippoorwill Dr. in Lehman Township. Additional calls advised that the structure had caught fire, and the incident was upgraded to a structure fire.

24 Engine 5 arrived on scene to find a vehicle well involved, with fire extending to the exterior of the home. Crews extinguished the fire, and mutual aid was canceled after confirming there was no extension into the interior of the residence
