Since the Facebook live was so glitchy tonight here is the update you might have missed.
**VA Markers for James Weeks and Peter Weeks Should be installed soon.
**All other graves have been marked by Sumter County.
**New Wild Cow Prairie Cemetery Sign provided by the Sumter County Preservation Society Inc. gives space to honor those who are known to be buried at this cemetery.
** Plumbago plants have been generously donated and will soon adorn the planter out front!
**Headstone cleaning has to wait till it warms up some, but will take place as soon as possible.
**We have had the damaged headstones looked at by a Headstone Preservation expert with 40 years experience and the outlook on possible repairs are hopeful. The worst two the white infant headstone near the front gate are the most damaged and those two might not be able to be repaired.
**If someone has the top half of Emmie Benton's headstone, please return it to the cemetery. NO QUESTONS ASKED! We just want her headstone returned. If you have it bring it to the cemetery and lay it by her grave, we will work to repair it.
**A National Register Plaque was purchased by the Sumter County Preservation Society for the cemetery and it has arrived! It will be installed in the near future!
**The Historic Marker is still at the factory, and hasn't shipped yet. Everyone will be notified when the Marker arrives.
**Finally, if you would like to see more preservation of historic sites in Sumter County, please consider a donation to the Sumter County Preservation Society Inc., who have made all this possible! Right now, if you donate $20 you will receive a 2022 calendar as a thank you gift for your support! You can donate and get your calendar here, but Calendars are going fast!

Today, members from the Sumter County Preservation Society installed a new sign for the cemetery. It replaces the weathered, wood sign that was rotting. It also gives the ability to display the names of people known to be buried at Wild Cow Prairie Cemetery, so they will always be remembered.

Hey all! Update time once again! Sorry for the lack of information for a while, but things move slowly anymore due to supply chain issues and such. The Historic Marker has not yet shipped from the factory to us yet, but it will at some point, so we just continue on our mission to improve the cemetery. Lots of things are slowly coming together to give this historic cemetery the TLC it has needed for so long. I am considering, if enough people are interested, possibly doing another facebook live in the near future to speak with the public about the cemetery, the history of Pemberton, and answer questions the public might have. If this is something that you may be interested in please let me know.
