Tomorrow begins September, which is Library Card Sign Up Month!

One way we are showcasing the value of your library card is by having Drop In Hours at the Reference Desk all month long on Tuesdays 12-1 pm and Thursdays 3-4 pm.

You can stop by for quick help with the library app, the Libby app, using the catalog, placing holds, using our electronic resources, and looking for a book kit for your book club!

(note: if you need help with technology or platforms beyond those listed above, please schedule a 1 on 1 session!)

Returning for the new school year...MONTHLY YOUTH READING CHALLENGES!

In September, we have the Back to School September Youth Reading Challenge in the Beanstack App. Participants will log reading minutes and activities from September 1 to September 30 in order to earn digital badges. Remember, each digital badge earned is good for 1 token for Ms. Tiffany's prize machine!

This month, the passive program in the children's department had kids vote for their favorite adventure between 8 options. One participant asked us to post the winner. With 35% of the vote, the winner is DOG SLEDDING IN ALASKA! How many of you would put this on your bucket list? We have some great books about dog sledding for both kids and adults, in case you want to learn more!

This week feels a little less shiny, a little less whimsical, and a little less colorful.

On Tuesday, we lost Dolly Parton, musical genius, philanthropist, and early literacy advocate.

On Wednesday, we lost Tim Curry, actor, entertainer, and eccentric but lovable cultural icon.

Today, we lost Yayoi Kusama, brilliant pop artist, best known for sculptures and art installations featuring polka dots.

How lucky we are that their works, and their legacies, will still be here. Whether you want to learn more about one of these creative legends, or strive to create your own legend, the library will insure that the stories live on.

School is back in session, and that also means a return of Tuesday night programs for students in K-4!

September we will be having Trading Tuesdays on select Tuesday evenings. Each week we will be bringing in specific items for us to trade with friends.

September 8- Sticker Swap
September 15- Bookmark Barter
September 22- Trinket Trade
September 29- Fidget Flip

For students who do not have those specific items to trade, but still want to participate, Ms. Tiffany will have "starter packs" available each week!

We have some REALLY exciting news to share regarding the future of our regular storytimes!

Play Mateys served the needs of families for the past 3 years with an emphasis on social interaction, play, and early literacy. But those needs have changed, and we are changing along with them.

We are excited to present Storytime Sprouts. This storytime model will feature books, songs, and activity centers in a more structured way to better prepare our littlest learners for preschool, kindergarten and beyond! AND we will be using a new space, a dedicated storytime area in our basement meeting room, for storytime!

We will still hold storytimes in 6 week sessions blocks during the 3 school year seasons, and an extended block in the summer. Children of all ages welcome, and no registration will be required.

Check back for the schedule of days and times of our upcoming fall sessions to be announced soon!
