Happy 4th of July from all of us at U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 8-6! 🇺🇸🎆
​As we celebrate our nation’s independence with family, friends, barbecues, and fireworks, we want to remind everyone heading out onto the water to keep safety at the forefront. The 4th of July is one of the busiest boating days of the year here in the Cape May and Lower Township area!
​If you are launching today, please remember these quick safety tips:
​🦺 Wear your life jacket – it only works if you are wearing it!
​⚓ Assign a sober skipper – Boating Under the Influence (BUI) is just as illegal and dangerous as driving under the influence.
​🎆 Keep your distance – stay clear of local maritime fireworks launch areas and safety zones.
​Have a spectacular, proud, and safe Independence Day!

Clear skies, classic cars, and community spirit! ☀️🏎️✈品
​Our Flotilla 8-6 crew had an incredible time this past Saturday at the Wings & Things Arts & Crafts Festival hosted by the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum! It was one of the most unique family events of the summer, featuring the spectacular Hot Rods at the Hangar car show.
​We set up shop surrounded by amazing aviation history and a stunning collection of classic, vintage, and modern vehicles. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to connect with Cape May County neighbors, hand out boating safety information, and chat about how we serve the local community.
​Beyond sharing our maritime mission, we thoroughly enjoyed:
​🎶 The awesome live music performed by The Lost Sailors.
​🎨 Checking out the incredible local arts, crafts, and photography vendors.
​🍔 Sampling some delicious local food truck eats and relaxing in the unique historic hangar atmosphere.
​A massive thank you to the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum for hosting such a top-tier event and for always being such a champion of our local history and community. We’re already looking forward to next year!

​Today, Flotilla 8-6 joins the entire nation in celebrating 87 years of service, dedication, and commitment to our maritime communities.
​Since 1939, Auxiliarists have answered the call to duty, volunteering their time, talents, and skills to support the U.S. Coast Guard and keep our local waters safe right here in Lower Township and Cape May. For nearly nine decades, this incredible organization has been a vital force multiplier, advancing maritime safety and security through:

Join Flotilla 8-6 for a Special Meeting Tomorrow, June 24! ⚓️🇺🇸
​We are incredibly privileged to welcome some fantastic guest speakers to our upcoming meeting. We will be joined by Lt. Joseph Roth, USCG, the Executive Officer (XO) of the Coast Guard Cutter Angela McShan stationed at TRACEN Cape May, along with his incoming replacement as Lt. Roth prepares for his transfer this July.
​Additionally, we will hear an insightful presentation from a Virginia Tech student intern who is currently participating in the Auxiliary Program.
​For the public: Have you ever wondered what the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary does? This meeting is open to anyone! Come check out how we operate, meet our crew, and learn how you can get involved in serving our local boating community.

​We see this kind of action in the headlines and think, "What a dynamic mission!" But it takes an incredible team behind that mission to make it successful. That team includes the dedicated volunteers of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
​The Coast Guard Auxiliary Lower Township (Flotilla 053-08-06) is actively recruiting new members! Whether you are a master mariner, a logistics expert, an instructor, or simply have a heart for community service, we have a role for you. No previous military experience is required.

What a great night at the Coast Guard Salute! ⚓️🇺🇸
​A huge thank you to for keeping this incredible event on your roster year after year. We loved coming together to honor our Coasties and all who serve. Between the great company, amazing food, cold beer, and a fantastic host, it was a night to remember! We are beyond grateful for your continued commitment to our Coast Guard family and our mission.
​A special shoutout to our very own Flotilla Commander, Buddy Stewart, and Diane Kelly! Their generosity provided $100 in MudHen gift cards, making sure 10 active-duty Coast Guard members could enjoy a well-deserved beer. 🍻
​We also want to send a massive thank you to local business We Make it Personal for their beautiful donation of The Water Tower cutting board!

📢 Not all heroes wear capes! Some wear life jackets! ⚓️🇺🇸
​Flotilla 8-6 had an incredible time this week at the Superheroes Meet & Greet Festival! We want to send a huge "Thank You" to the Beachcomber Camping Resort for hosting such a wonderful family event and inviting us to participate.
​Our members loved meeting the community, chatting with the kids, and sharing crucial boating safety tips to help everyone prepare for the upcoming season. It was an honor to stand alongside other Cape May County local heroes (including police, fire, and K9 units!) to celebrate our service. We are already looking forward to next year!
