If anyone knows Derrick Brozek, we would like to speak to him about a found wallet. He can call 417-649-7070

I've been contacted by two different sources saying there is a rumor on social media about Carl Junction Officers stopping people and asking where they are going and there is only 4 destinations we are accepting. This is absolutely false.

We are not stopping people on the street, nor in cars for adherence to the stay at home order.

There are lots of different reasons for vehicle stops, We are still enforcing traffic laws, including moving and registration issues.

All car stops and interactions with the public are on body camera and car camera. If anyone has a complaint, we can pull those stops.

We will be testing the storm sirens at 10 am, this morning. With Spring being storm season, it is important for us to make sure the sirens are working. Remember that the storm sirens are to warn people outside and traveling through town of the storm danger. There may be times that you can not hear them inside your house. Please get a weather radio to give you another way of monitoring severe weather.

Shout-out to CJ Pharmacy, Main & Pennell in Carl Junction, for providing our department with sanitizer to help keep our station as safe as possible. Thank you for your service to our community! 😃

I want to let everyone know that our walking trails are still open. The Stay at Home order does not prohibit you from being outside, you just need to maintain social distancing from others. I would like to invite anyone using the trail to use the south side of our parking lot to park your cars. It is on our surveillance system, so your car should be safe.

04/03/2020

Just one of my reminders, even with most people staying at home, we have had very few thefts from cars. Please take your valuables out of your cars and lock your doors. People who break the law, don't pay attention to what we recommend as far as sheltering at home. Please don't be a victim.

04/03/2020

As many of you know we hold an annual pet vaccination clinic each year in May. This event will be postponed until further notice and we will attempt to get another date set later in the year. Stay safe everyone!

I will be posting three more videos in hopes that someone may be able to identify these two individuals. Feel free to message us on Facebook or give us a call at 417-649-7070. Thank you for your help!

We have secured the doors to the lobby of the Police Station in response to the two cases in the area with the Covid-19 virus. (One in Jasper and and one in Cherokee County which is right across the state line from our city.)

If you come to the station for assistance, please call 417-649-7070 and we will have an officer contact you. We would prefer to contact you at the scene to assist you.

I apologize for the inconvenience and we will return to our normal operation as soon as we get medical clearance to do so.

Chief Delmar Haase

Starting tomorrow, there is a public health order coming out that will prohibit more than 10 people from gathering. This has a few exemptions they will explain. This is a civil order and will be enforced by Health Department authorities.

03/20/2020

Due to concerns with the spreading of the Corona virus, I am suspending the purchase of animal tags until May 1st. Everyone who owns an animal in the City limits is required to purchase a city license. These are invaluable to us. When we pick up a dog running at large, we are able to determine where the dog is from by the tag and description. Please after May 1st, register your animal. You need proof of vaccination and the cost is $5.

We will respond to in-progress calls and any case with potential violence. We will continue to patrol neighborhoods and take care of the City.

Our goal is to limit exposure to the virus so that we can keep your City safe.

We have been notified of several scams circulating. One where a police department calls you and says you have warrants, then tells you to get gift cards to pay the fine. The other is a family member calls and tells you they are in trouble and need you to get gift cards, take pictures of the front, scratch off the back and send them pictures of the back of the card. This enables anyone to use the card you hold.

No one ever calls or sends you emails asking you to get gift cards to get out of a problem. It is always a scam.

Criminals will continue to try and find a way to separate you and your hard earned money. Please don't fall prey to this, if you have doubts about emails or calls, they are probably wrong. Call you local police department before you do anything like this, we can give you advice.

Everyone has done a great job locking things up lately. We haven't had a report in a while. Please keep it up, take valuables out of your car and lock it up. Your odds of being a victim go down dramatically.

Has there been any reports of power outages in Country Club Estates??
There is a beautiful gray and white cat with a blue collar on Marshal Ave. We have never seen this cat out before. We tried to bring it inside to find the owners but it got Spooked by our dog and scratched me to get away. We left some food on our porch in hopes he comes back. If this is your cat and it isn’t supposed to be outside please let me know. We will keep our eyes out for it.
Thank you to CJ Dispatch, CJFD and Officer Stephanie for all of your help with my son this afternoon. Thomas thought he saw a spark in the oven while cooking a snack. He didn’t have a phone so he ran 3 blocks over to the police department. The dispatcher was great and got Officer Stephanie to talk to him. Seeing someone he knew from school calmed him down so he could tell what was wrong. The dispatcher was also great calming this panicked mom when I called to see what was going on. Thankfully there was nothing wrong. Our family wanted to say thank you for being there when we needed you. Have a Merry Christmas!
Perhaps it’s only me, but that 4-way stop at Lone Elm Ave and Fir Rd. is absolutely the worst. It either needs to be changed so that only northbound and southbound traffic on Lone Elm Ave has to stop, or change it into a roundabout. It’s especially horrible if you’re coming from the east off 171. I would say at least 9 out of 10 times when I’m coming home and hit that 4-way stop coming from the East, traffic is so backed up that a lot of times I’m stopped well past (to the east) Van Hooser St. It’s creating unnecessary congestion and by far the most horrible 4-way stop I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure whose bright idea it was to think having a 4-way stop on one of the busiest roads was a fantastic idea, but it was probably the worst decision ever made and needs to change so that it keeps the flow of traffic along Fir Rd. going and not create such a congested mess. Either it needs to be a 2-way stop for just the southbound/northbound traffic on Lone Elm Ave, add a roundabout to that intersection or install a traffic light so that more than 1 car can go through at one time. Not to mention, there are far too many people who, seemingly, doesn’t know how a 4-way stop works so what happens is a lot of times I’ve seen cars stopped in each direction just sit there not knowing what to do. Drives me nuts, I now try avoid having to go through that intersection unless I absolutely have to. Please, change it and keep the flow of traffic going.
Are there laws pertaining to disturbing the peace during the day? Or maybe a law against just being an obnoxious jerk and 'terrorizing' a whole neighborhood with your car every weekend??
If ANYONE in the Briarbrook area see’s this baby PLEASE contact me 417-291-9715. Thank you
Moon and clouds over you this past evening. Thought it was cool.
