Roadway has been cleared & reopened.

Due to an accident in the area of Myland Ln. & Roswell Hwy both northbound & southbound lanes of traffic will be temporarily closed. Please plan for delays.

UPDATE: Roadway has been reopened.

Due to an accident at 1st (Hwy 285) & Hermosa the northbound lane and 1st will be temporarily closed. Please plan for delays.

Roadway has been cleared and is open.

Due to a crash involving commercial vehicles, NM 31 eastbound & westbound from MM 5, 5 miles N of US 285 to MM6, 6 miles N of US 285 will be temporarily closed.
Expect delays or locate an alternate route. Please use caution, reduce speed, & watch for emergency personnel in this area.

Roadway has been repaired and reopened. Drive safely!

UPDATE: 10:30am Monday, Aug. 24,2026
Louis Whitlock Rd(Wipp Rd) remains closed from US 62/180 to WIPP cutoff @ Y. Construction crews worked throughout the weekend & continue to make progress on repairs. While work is moving quickly, an exact reopening timeframe is not yet available. We will update as information becomes available.

UPDATE: 6am Friday 21 Aug.
Due to a separate accident on NM 31, previously posted access for Wipp site using Hwy 128 will ALSO be temporarily closed.

Louis Whitlock Rd (WIPP Rd) is CLOSED from US 62/180 to the WIPP Cutoff @ Y due to a roadway hazard.
❌ No through traffic will be permitted.
Use Hwy 128 (Jal Hwy) to access the WIPP site.
Updates will be posted as the hazard is cleared.

Eastbound traffic on Lovington Hwy and Ripple Rd. near MM141/142 will be temporarily closed due to an accident. Please plan for delays.

Due to an accident at about MM40 on Hwy 285 the southbound lane will be temporarily closed. Please plan for delays.

UPDATE: 409am road has been reopened.

At about MM48 on Happy Valley Rd. a jack knifed semi truck has caused a spill resulting in a temporary closure of northbound lanes. Please plan for delays.
