The following is in response to a post made by Scott Nabb last night concerning the county pool. (THIS POST IN NOT AN OFFICIAL POST NOR IS AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THE CARROLL COUNTY KENTUCKY GOVERNMENT)
‼️FACTS‼️⬇️
The pool was underfunded for years but still operable. Through my almost 30 years of running that facility I managed to keep a 100 % rating year in and year out with the health department, have zero drownings or serious injuries, used my own personal tools and provided several fundraisers out of my own pocket to help individuals and the community. I say all this not to toot my own horn but to just get the FACTS ABSOLUTELY CLEAR! This post has been a long time coming. I was Fired by this current administration in October of 2024 after nearly 30 years of service under 4 different judges and many, many magistrates and an impeccable record of service and was not given a reason for my firing. Quite the contrary, I was told I didn't deserve to know why I was Fired and was escorted out of the judge's office by the Sheriff and honestly treated like a criminal. Some of the information in this post is true but some is FALSE! It is true that the place has been underfunded for years. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT TRUE THAT THE FACILITY IS INOPERABLE. As of October 2024 the place was entirely operable. Had I not have been fired, THE POOL WOULD ABSOLUTELY STILL BE OPEN. It would have opened last year and I would be currently preparing to open it this season. To say that all the pumps and pipes are the reason the pool is not open is a lie. I had annual closing procedures put into place to prevent damage to the pumps. I did annual preventative maintenance on the entire facility in preparation for the winter. After nearly 30 years, I knew that facility in and out, and exactly how to keep it running from year to year, even with poor funding. I loved my job and would still be there providing our community with a summer hang out, swim lessons, summer parties, corporate events and special events. SO TO BE CLEAR, THE FACILITY WOULD ABSOLUTELY STILL BE OPEN IF I WERE STILL THE SUPERVISOR. IT WAS NOT CLOSED DUE TO MAINTENANCE ISSUES BUT DUE TO POLITICAL DECISIONS. THINK HARD FOLKS! POLITICAL DECISIONS HAVE REAL WORLD CONSEQUENCES! I do believe their are maintenance issues at the pool now, but that is due to the mismanagement and lack of knowledge of the facility after I was Fired. To be BLUNT, THIS ADMINISTRATION ALLOWED FOR THE MAINTENANCE ISSUES TO OCCUR AFTER I WAS FIRED! THIS IS THE TRIE REASON THE POOL DIDN'T OPEN LAST YEAR AND WILL NOT OPEN THIS YEAR. Scott along with the other magistrates and the Judge David Willhoite decided that I needed to be fired, not appreciating just how complex the operation of the county pool was. They did have replacements for me in place but obviously the replacements were unable to keep the pool operable. I would also like to directly address the statement that " the pool is boring, there is nothing to do". There is a reason it was boring, Scott along with the other magistrates and the Judge decided to remove the long standing, popular diving boards as one of their first actions when they came into office! So they are directly responsible for the " boring nature" of the pool under their reign. Also, this administration, Scott included, decided to raise the pool entry rates at exactly the time the new crystal beach facility was opening, actually charging more at the time than crystal beach was charging! So there is little wonder as to why people decided to drive to Madison. I didn't agree with either decision, but these elected officials made these decisions. I will close with this. Scott Nab IS NOT THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR OUR COUNTY AS THE NEXT JUDGE EXECUTIVE! I will mention one other story in closing that goes to show the nature of this guy's character. I left the County Pool opened late several times for Scott when he was the boy scout leader so that those guys could use the facility to earn their badges. I was not allowed any overtime pay, as I was a salleried employee. I donated my own time so Scott could use the facility with his scouts. Again, I say this not to toot my own horn, but to get some facts straight. Years later Scott became magistrate. I had no issues with Scott at the time. In fact Scott was complimentary and cordial towards me and often cited what a good job as supervisor I was doing. Scott actually told me what a great job I was doing 2 days before I was Fired! Knowing full well that I would be fired when he said that to me. What kind of character does a guy have to look a man in the eyes and tell him how great he is doing knowing full well that I was getting fired? If I was doing such a great job why was I fired? THIS WOULD BE ENTIRELY a political message if I didn't feel like my name, good standing in the community, and long service to county have been tarnished by this post! POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES are REAL, AND THIS GUY IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR Carroll COUNTY.
