In June, members of Sunnyside Grange presented Captain/Paramedic Stacie Poff with their local Community Firefighter of the Year award. Tonight at the Commissioners meeting, Sunnyside Grange members returned to present Captain Poff with the Washington State Grange Community Firefighter of the Year Award. This award is given annually at the state level to a first responder who goes above and beyond in their field. Capt. Poff continually raises the bar with her skills and dedication to our community. Capt. Poff is now eligible for this award at the National level. We would like to thank Sunnyside Grange and Washington State Grange for continued support of our department and community. Congratulations Capt. Poff on your award.

FF/EMT Saavedra is on the move again. T612 and Spencer moved to the Autumn Lane Fire in Spokane. Spencer should be making the trek home on Saturday. Please keep Spencer and all the other hardworking men and women fighting fires all across the PNW in your thoughts!

Quick look at what FF/EMT Saavedra is up to…….

Spencer is still out on Tender 612 providing water to crews fighting the Bradeen Hill Fire in Stevens County. The fire across the river in the background of the picture is the Modrite Fire. Firefighters in the Central and Eastern part of Washington are fighting high winds and unfavorable weather. Our thoughts are with all the firefighters working hard to gain a lead on all the fires burning across the state and surrounding areas.

Where’s Spencer?

FF/EMT Spencer Saavedra was sent out on July 24th as a single source tender to assist in wildfires across the state. Spencer was released from the White Swan area and has moved to the Bradeen Hill Fire in Steven’s County. This fire is burning 4,167 acres and is 0% contained. Resources will be shared with the Modrite Fire during this assignment. Stay safe out there Spencer and as always, thank you to all the wildland firefighters working long hard hours to get these fires contained.

Just a little update on FF/EMT Spencer Saavedra……

Spencer was released from the Railroad Fire in Grant County yesterday and was reassigned to the Ransier Fire in White Swan. Spencer will be providing water to multiple strike teams as their hydrant system is down. Our thoughts are with the community of White Swan and all the firefighters working hard to contain this fire.

FF/EMT Spencer Saavedra was sent out last night as a single resource on Tender 612 to the Railroad Fire in Grant County Wa. FF/EMT Saavedra will be serving as water supply as crews continue to fight this fire that has burned 5,714 since July 22nd and is currently 0% contained. FF/EMT Saavedra will be deployed for up to 14 days. Stay safe and thank you for your willingness to serve!
