As we remember St. Francis of Assisi, his humility, love for people living in poverty, and care for creation invite us to follow Christ through loving service. 🤲🌿

During this Jubilee Year marking 800 years since his death, we remember the parishes bearing his name in Jefferson, Lenoir, Franklin, and Mocksville. ⛪♥️

At Catholic Charities, may his example renew our commitment to the dignity of every person and the care of our neighbors in need. 💙

Este octubre nos unimos al papa León XIV en oración por la pastoral de la salud mental en toda la Iglesia, para que nuestras comunidades ayuden a superar el estigma y la discriminación que sufren las personas con enfermedades mentales. 💙

🤝 Toda persona merece dignidad, comprensión y apoyo compasivo. En Caridades Católicas, esto nos inspira a escuchar con atención y acompañar a nuestros vecinos en los momentos difíciles.

🕊️ Oremos por las personas con enfermedades mentales, sus familias, cuidadores y quienes les brindan apoyo. Que nuestras comunidades sean lugares de acogida y esperanza.

This October, we join Pope Leo XIV in praying for mental health ministry throughout the Church, so that our communities help overcome the stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with mental illness. 💙

🤝 Every person deserves dignity, understanding, and compassionate support. At Catholic Charities, we are inspired to listen with care and accompany our neighbors through difficult moments.

🕊️ Join us in prayer for people living with mental illness, their families, caregivers, and all who offer support. May our communities be places of belonging and hope.

Today the Church honors the Holy Guardian Angels, reminding us of God’s loving care and the angels’ protection and guidance. 🙏

We pray for children, families, and all who care for them. May our faith inspire us to protect those who are vulnerable and build communities where every person is welcomed and valued. 💙

At Catholic Charities, care for our neighbors begins with recognizing each person’s God-given dignity.

🌹 October 1 | St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Known as the “Little Flower,” St. Thérèse was a French Carmelite nun and Doctor of the Church, remembered for her autobiography, Story of a Soul. Though she lived a cloistered life, her devotion to prayer and love for the Church led her to be named a patron saint of missionaries. 🙏

Her “little way” teaches us to draw closer to Jesus through trust, humility, and small acts of great love. May her example inspire us to listen with patience, offer a helping hand, and serve our neighbors with compassion. 💙

Today, we ask for her intercession for those who are sick and for everyone sharing Christ’s love through service.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, pray for us! 🌹

🌹 1 de octubre | Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús

Conocida como la “Pequeña Flor”, santa Teresita fue una religiosa carmelita francesa y doctora de la Iglesia, recordada por su autobiografía, Historia de un alma. Aunque vivió en clausura, su profunda oración y amor por la Iglesia la llevaron a ser reconocida como patrona de las misiones. 🙏

Su “caminito” nos enseña a acercarnos a Jesús con confianza, humildad y pequeños actos de gran amor. Que su ejemplo nos inspire a escuchar con paciencia, tender una mano y servir a nuestros vecinos con compasión. 💙

Hoy pedimos su intercesión por las personas enfermas y por quienes comparten el amor de Cristo a través del servicio.

Join us as we celebrate saints whose lives inspire us to love generously, serve with compassion, and bring hope to our neighbors. 💙

This month, we also join Pope Leo XIV in praying for mental health ministry, so that people living with mental illness find understanding, dignity, and support within our Church communities. 🕊️

Acompáñanos al celebrar a los santos cuyas vidas nos inspiran a amar con generosidad, servir con compasión y llevar esperanza a nuestros vecinos. 💙

Our Catholic Charities team in Lenoir joined conversations with United Way, NC Rural Center, NCWorks Career Center, and the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce to explore ways to support families, connect neighbors with resources, and expand employment opportunities.

Lenten generosity continues to make a difference close to home.

This summer, Catholic Charities awarded four $1,000 CRS Rice Bowl grants to local Catholic ministries supporting Meals on Wheels, a homeless shelter, back-to-school assistance, and a school community garden.

Congratulations to St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensboro, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury, and St. Pius X Catholic School!🙏

Through this program, Catholic Charities connects the generosity of our diocesan community with local efforts to address hunger and poverty. Thank you to everyone who participated in CRS Rice Bowl and helped put faith into action. 🌱

La generosidad de la Cuaresma sigue dando frutos en nuestra comunidad.

Este verano, Caridades Católicas otorgó cuatro ayudas de $1,000 del programa Plato de Arroz de CRS para apoyar la entrega de comidas a domicilio, un albergue para personas sin hogar, asistencia para el regreso a clases y un huerto comunitario escolar.
