🚒 2025 AFG GRANT AWARDED 🚒

We are excited to announce that our regional 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) application has been approved!

The Charlotte Fire Department partnered with the Benton Township Fire Department and Vermontville Township Fire Department to apply for funding specifically focused on replacing and upgrading fire hose, nozzles, fittings, and related hose appliances used by our departments.

💰 Federal Grant Award: $223,216.36
🔥 Total Project Value: $245,538.00

Fire hose and nozzles are some of the most essential tools our firefighters use. This funding will allow all three departments to replace aging hose and nozzles while adding additional hose and related components to meet current and future operational needs.

Having reliable hose and nozzles is critical to safely and effectively delivering water during fire suppression operations. This grant represents a significant investment in the capabilities of all three departments and the firefighters who rely on this equipment.

We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with other Eaton County fire departments on this regional grant. By working together, we were able to address a common need across all three departments while reducing the financial impact on the communities we serve.

🚨 CHARLOTTE FIRE DEPARTMENT & CHARLOTTE POLICE DEPARTMENT 🚨
Public Information Request — Downtown Charlotte

The Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance regarding a dumpster fire that occurred in the downtown district on the backside of 229 and 231 S. Cochran Ave.

Based on the information currently available, we believe the fire occurred sometime between approximately 3:00 and 5:00 AM this morning. The fire appears to have burned itself out before it was noticed, but not before causing damage to an adjacent building.

Thankfully, what could have potentially become a much more serious incident was averted.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this time, the fire may have been accidental; however, we cannot rule out the possibility of human involvement.

We are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, or anyone who may have doorbell, security, business, or other camera footage from the area between approximately 3:00 and 5:00 AM, to please contact:

If you live or have a business near 229 or 231 S. Cochran Ave. and have camera footage from this morning, please take a look. Even footage that may seem insignificant could provide investigators with valuable information.

Please do not speculate or make accusations. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and any information should be directed to investigators.

🇺🇸WE WILL NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

Throughout today, the electronic sign in front of the Charlotte Fire Department West Side Fire Station will display the significant events of September 11, 2001, at the same times they occurred 25 years ago today.

As each moment passes, the sign will mark another point in the timeline of that tragic morning—a reminder of the lives lost, the bravery shown, and the countless acts of courage and sacrifice by firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, civilians, and ordinary Americans who stepped forward to help others.

After the final significant event on the timeline has passed, the sign will continue displaying the events and their timestamps on a continuous rotation for the remainder of the day.

We do this in remembrance of the 2,977 lives lost, including 343 FDNY firefighters, and in honor of all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the fallen.
We remember the heroes.
We remember September 11, 2001.

Fireworks Tonight at Charlotte Frontier Days!

Join us tonight at the Eaton County Fairgrounds for the 2026 Charlotte Frontier Days fireworks!

Great response and knock down by Bellevue Community Fire Dept.

STRUCTURE FIRE:

Yesterday at approximately 4:00 p.m., Bellevue Fire Department was dispatched, along with Olivet Fire Department for mutual aid, to a reported structure fire in Bellevue Township.

An on-duty member and one additional firefighter were able to respond within one minute of dispatch. As crews were leaving the Village of Bellevue, a large column of smoke was visible. Eaton County 911 advised responding units that the structure involved was a 30-by-40-foot pole barn.

Upon arrival, crews found the pole barn fully involved, with heavy fire pushing from the garage door. Hose lines were quickly stretched and an initial fire attack was initiated. Due to the heavy volume of fire coming from the structure, a ground monitor was rapidly deployed to provide additional water flow.

Charlotte Fire Department was requested to the scene for additional tanker support and manpower. Crews from all responding departments worked together to bring the fire under control and extinguish the remaining fire.

Although the pole barn remained standing, it sustained extensive damage due to the heavy fire conditions and the large amount of flammable contents stored inside.

The homeowner sustained minor burns and was treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

The Charlotte Volunteer Firefighters Association is putting together a SxS/ATV ride to benefit their nonprofit organization!

Come out and join some of the CFD volunteer members for a fun day of riding while helping support the Association.
