We are excited to celebrate the ribbon-cutting and official grand opening of the McDowell Creek Solar Facility in Huntersville, hosted on Charlotte Water property.

The 10.7-acre facility features 4,576 bifacial solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 4,080 MWh of clean energy each year, enough to power an estimated 380 homes annually.

The project puts underused land to work while preserving existing hardwood stands, maintaining a 20-foot vegetative buffer, and using wildlife-friendly fencing.

Thank you, Charlotte, for doing your part to conserve water. Your daily efforts and continued compliance with water restrictions are helping protect our regional water supply.

While recent rain has been welcome, Stage 2 drought conditions remain in effect. In coordination with the Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group (DMAG), Charlotte Water evaluates lake levels, the three-month U.S. Drought Monitor average, and six-month average streamflow to help determine when drought response measures can be adjusted.

Until conditions improve, please continue following Stage 2 water restrictions and the outdoor watering schedule.
