Help us find his family!

He’s been running around town for a few days now, and we finally were able to catch him. He doesn't have a microchip, so we don't know who he belongs to.

He is currently safe and resting at the police department. If this is your loved one, please call our dispatch (952-361-1231) and speak with a community service officer to identity.

You should always have your headlights on after dusk, especially if you’re going to drive without a driver's license.

Last night (06/14/2026) around 9:35pm, one of our night shift officers was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle driving on Hwy 41 near the intersection of Chaska Blvd without its lights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle came to a stop in a nearby parking lot. Once the vehicle stopped, the driver got out of the vehicle and tried to run away.

Officers chased the man on foot and eventually captured him. When the man provided his name, officers learned that his driver’s license status was “Cancelled – Inimical to Public Safety,” which means that the state took away his driving privileges due to his dangerous driving history. The man also proclaimed that he ran away because he is on parole. He was arrested and booked into the Carver County jail on several charges.

Lesson of the day: don't do it.

Our 2026 Safety Camp is in the books!

On Day 1 the campers explored a wide range of important safety topics—from bike/helmet safety, to learning how to safely evacuate during a house fire, train track hazards, practicing calming breathing techniques, personal safety, and water safety.
Later that day North Memorial Air Care landed their helicopter and gave the campers a tour. Thank you to the air care team Jessica, Michael, and Analisa!
We wrapped up the day with an exciting reptile experience from Snake Discovery. The kids even got a chance to take a photo with a giant snake named Superman!

Day 2 was filled with fun and learning about internet safety, electrical power/transformer safety, search and rescue dogs, how to properly call 911, building an at-home emergency kit, why seat belts are so important, responsible pet ownership, and more.
Towards the end of the day, we did some face painting, watched a 3D machine create some cool things, watched a BMX Bike Jump Show, and participated in a graduation ceremony.
A huge “Thank You" to our camp counselors, volunteers, presenters, and those who donated to help make this camp possible - we certainly couldn't do this without you!

Here’s a quick look at what kept CPD busy in May. Our officers responded to 1,571 calls for service throughout the month, averaging nearly 51 every day.

As we head into the summer months, calls for service increase and our officers get busier across the community. That’s why we continue to rely on our residents to help be the eyes and ears of Chaska.

Whether it’s reporting suspicious activity or simply looking out for one another, community partnership plays a huge role in keeping Chaska safe. Thank you to everyone who continues to support that mission alongside us.

We are excited for our fifth year of the Growth Through Opportunity (GTO) Program! The GTO program is designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain work experience with local city government.

Police Cadets Kayla and Connor were sworn in last Monday night by Chief Seibert and were welcomed to the city by the City Council members and staff.
Some of our Cadets from past years were there to welcome them and give some advice.
The Cadets started this week and will be with us for 8 weeks. They will be spending time with the fire department, administration and finance, public works, community development, engineering, water and sewer, electric department, Chaska Parks and Recreation, Chaska Town Course and the PD learning what we do on a daily basis.
Please join us in welcoming our new Cadets!

The weight of this work is real, and too often it's carried in silence. Rest in peace, Tyler. Thank you for your service to countless communities and to the entire State of Minnesota.
