K9 Club Update!
June has been a busy month for our 4-H K9 Club as we continue preparing for the upcoming dog show at the fair.
During the second week of June, we gathered at co-leader Tracy’s house to practice agility and work on our show routines. After a short break, we returned ready to go and held our first practice of the season at the fairgrounds.
One of our favorite meetings this month included what we jokingly called a “canine mash-up.” Handlers had the opportunity to work with one another’s dogs, offering encouragement, sharing tips, and learning from each other’s unique, yet universal training styles. It was a fun way to build teamwork and gain new perspectives while strengthening our handling skills.
At our first fairgrounds practice, members worked together to set up and configure the agility course while also discussing plans for our upcoming dog show program. It was exciting to begin putting all of the pieces together as fair season quickly approaches.
The dogs and handlers are making great progress, and we are looking forward to showcasing all of their hard work at the fair!
