We hear bells ringing! This week we are celebrating our Guest Jay as he graduated into long-term housing! After more than 20 years of housing instability and homelessness, Jay came to stay at LPCS for 9 months. During his time here, with the help of his case manager Dora, he focused on stabilizing his health, financial management, and searching for subsidized housing. Jay is thrilled to finally have his own apartment again and so thankful for LPCS’s support. Please join us in congratulating Jay!

Biden admin scraps Trump-era proposal to limit trans protections at shelters

"The department said it would withdraw a rule proposed by the Trump administration in July that would’ve weakened the Obama-era Equal Access Rule, which ensures people have equal access to federally funded shelters and facilities regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity." 👏

LPCS is committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for EVERYONE.

Transgender people are more likely to experience homelessness and face higher rates of discrimination at shelters.

🎙 NEW EPISODE ON Spotify and Podbean now! This month on The Homeless Monologues Podcast, we introduce you to Keyonna aka Keekee, our first female Guest/Graduate to be featured on the show! Keekee first came to LPCS in June of 2020 and hit the ground running from day one. She worked throughout the entirety of her nine month stay at LPCS as an EVS Tech at Northwestern Medicine. She started as a part time employee and has since moved into a full time role. With the encouragement and support of Dora, her Case Manager, Keekee has begun to further her education, hoping to become a phlebotomist. Keekee was connected to housing through the city's All Chicago Expedited Housing Initiative and moved into her new place on March 11th. Keekee's story and generosity will leave you inspired. #podcast #homelessness #housing

Mario, their Case Manager, shared that working with both of them was a pleasure- they both came in motivated knowing what they wanted to accomplish and moved through the program quickly. Please join us in congratulating Walter and Dexter on their new apartments!! 🔑 #lpcsmoodbooster

🔔”This is the best shelter I have been in. This is the most caring staff I have ever met...anything I need, you’re always here to help me.”🔔 We recommend you turn the sound on for this one 🔊, as we were definitely brought to tears during Rosalyn’s recent bell ringing ceremony. She has been living with a disability, and our team was able to connect her with life-changing healthcare services. She worked closely with the whole team at Fullerton during her stay, and while we miss her already, we are so happy she is in a one bedroom apartment of her own. Congratulations, Rosalyn!! 💜 #lpcsmoodbooster

“Everyone, regardless of their housing status, is part of your community. We are all neighbors... So many folks are one paycheck away from homelessness.” • Our March episode of the Homeless Monologues Podcast just dropped, and you don’t want to miss it. 🔔On this #transformationtuesday we’re celebrating our recent Graduate Butch. Butch is a very familiar member of the LPCS Fullerton community as he has stayed with us once before. Julie, his Case Manager, has been working with Butch for four years, getting him connected to disability benefits and imperative healthcare (Butch lost most of his toes to frostbite while living on the street). Julie helped him to obtain income through the LPCS Green Team and worked to reunify him with his sister that he hadn’t seen for 20 years. Please join us in congratulating Butch on his new apartment at Thresholds Buffet Place! 🔑 #lpcsmoodbooster
