Carmen was one of the first Guests to stay in our brand new interim housing shelter at Sedgwick in July of 2019. She was nervous, about moving into a new environment and about the language barrier - Carmen is a Spanish-speaker. Fortunately, she was paired with Dora, a bilingual Case Manager, who conducted all of their meetings in Spanish and with cultural sensitivity. Dora provided immediate support, connecting Carmen to health care resources to address kidney stones and a recent injury.

With Dora's support, Carmen began meeting goals and milestones quickly. In December of 2019, as Carmen and Dora began looking at independent housing options,  a unit fortuitously became available at our brand new affordable housing apartments onsite at Sedgwick. Once again, Carmen was one of the first to move in. She has now lived in her unit for almost a year and continues to get case management support from Dora.

Carmen shared her gratitude for LPCS and for Dora.
"They treated me well. I don't have a lot of complaints. Here, they gave me life."

Many of you may be familiar with our Homeless Monologues production, normally hosted annually live onstage at the beautiful @goodmantheatre as an opportunity to share some of our Guests’ and Graduates’ stories and build more awareness around homelessness. We weren’t able to do this in 2020 due to covid, but we remain committed to this important project. So today, Mario, one of our Case Managers, set up a professional grade “studio” and recorded our soon-to-be Graduate Anthony’s story for our very first LPCS Homeless Monologues podcast! Stay tuned for the first full episode coming soon! #homelessnessawareness #homelessmonologues #lpcsmoodbooster

In need of low income housing with no deposit. Recent surgery left me out of work for over a month. I am staying in random peoples apartments with them and just got back to work so I have literally nothing to my name. I have no idea what I am going to do.
