JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Advocate Coordinator will provide professional supervision to Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning; to provide assistance for the program and program staff; case coordination; program development and administrative responsibilities for their assigned volunteers.
The Advocate Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
➡️Volunteer Recruitment
- Plan and execute methods of recruiting volunteers
- Screen prospective volunteers
- Schedule and conduct interviews to determine suitability of applicants
➡️Volunteer Supervision and Training
- Supervise and manage volunteer caseload
- Assign active volunteers to ongoing caseload
- Ability to clearly communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. Experience with volunteers given preference
- Respond to questions and provide support promptly when requested
- Offer and implement coaching to volunteers as needed
- Ensure timely submission of volunteer tracking and court reports
- Serve as liaison between the court, collateral professionals, and the CASA volunteer
- Support advocacy efforts of volunteers - Must stay informed of best practices in the field and coordinate the implementation and adaptation of such practices in the program
- Arrange and conduct pre-service and ongoing training for CASA volunteers
- Conduct volunteer educational trainings
- Attend court hearings and multi-disciplinary teams and track dates accordingly
➡️Administrative Duties
- Plan and arrange volunteer recognition events
- Evaluate effectiveness of volunteer recruitment, training, assignment, and recognition efforts
- Maintain up-to-date case records, including electronically in program database
- Provide office coverage as assigned by the Executive Director
- Complete office required paperwork
➡️Community Relations
- Contact community groups and organizations to arrange presentations to recruit CASA volunteers and increase community awareness of the CASA program
➡️Human Relations
- The incumbent represents the agency in developing, implementing, and monitoring the program. It is vital that the incumbent effectively leads and coordinates the services in a multi-disciplinary team model that may include employees and volunteers with diverse skill levels.
- The incumbent ensures the program's compliance with all West Virginia statues and National CASA, WV CASA and Harrison County CASA program regulations.
- The incumbent must have the ability to relate dynamically and diplomatically with volunteers, professionals, and the advocacy community.
➡️ Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social service field preferred. A combination of four years of education and experience will also be considered.
- Good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the trends of child welfare and permanency planning for children and the dynamics of child abuse and neglect a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs and database
- Working knowledge of child protective proceedings a plus
- Organizer and collaborator; proactive and timely; ability to work efficiently, effectively and with flexibility
- Ability to travel
- Commitment to and willingness to follow CASA's program goals and mission.
