Clive Police Department

Clive Police Department The officer's powers and duties are conferred by statute. All citizens will be treated equally with courtesy, consideration and dignity.

The 29 sworn staff and seven civilian employees of the Clive Police serve the City through excellent community policing, fair and timely investigations, regular patrols of Clive neighborhoods, and multiple public education and partnership programs. Law Enforcement Code of Conduct:

All law enforcement officers, must be fully aware of the ethical responsibilities of their position and strive consta

ntly to live up to the highest possible standards of professional policing. Primary Responsibilities of a Police Officer:

A police officer acts as an official representative of government who is required and trusted to work within the law. The fundamental duties of a police officer include serving the community, safeguarding lives and property, protecting the innocent, keeping the peace and ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice. Performance of the Duties of a Police Officer:

A police officer shall perform all duties impartially, without favor or affection or ill will and without regard to status, s*x, race, religion, political belief or aspiration. Officers will never allow personal feelings, animosities, or friendships to influence official conduct. Laws will be enforced appropriately and courteously and, in carrying out their responsibilities, officers will strive to obtain maximum cooperation from the public. They will conduct themselves in appearance and department in such a manner as to inspire confidence and respect for the position of public trust they hold. Discretion:

A police officer will use responsibly the discretion vested in his or her position and exercise it within the law. The principle of reasonableness will guide the officer's determinations, and the officer will consider all surrounding circumstances in determining whether any legal action shall be taken. Consistent and wise use of discretion, based on professional policing competence, will do much to preserve good relationships and retain the confidence of the public. Use of Force:

A police officer will never employ unnecessary force or violence and will use only such force in the discharge of duty as is reasonable in all circumstances. The use of force should be used only with the greatest restraint and only after discussion, negotiation and persuasion have been found to be inappropriate, or ineffective. While the use of force is occasionally unavoidable, every police officer will refrain from unnecessary infliction of pain or suffering and will never engage in cruel, degrading or inhuman treatment of any person. Confidentiality:

Whatever a police officer sees, hears, or learns, will be kept confidential unless the performance of duty or legal provision requires otherwise. Members of the public have a right to security and privacy, and information obtained about them must not be improperly divulged. Integrity:

A police officer will not engage in acts of corruption or bribery, nor will an officer condone such acts by other police officers. The public demands the integrity of police officers be above reproach. Police officers must, therefore, avoid any conduct that might compromise integrity and thus undercut the public confidence in a law enforcement agency. Officers will refuse to accept any gifts, presents, subscriptions, favors, gratuities or promises that could be interpreted as seeking to cause the officer to refrain from performing official responsibilities honestly and within the law. Police officers must not receive private or special advantage from their official status. Respect from the public cannot be bought; it can only be earned and cultivated. Cooperation With Other Police Officers and Agencies:

Police officers will cooperate with all legally authorized agencies and their representatives in the pursuit of justice. An officer or agency may be one among many organizations that may provide law enforcement services to a jurisdiction. It is imperative that a police officer assist colleagues fully and completely with respect and consideration at all times. Personal-Professional Capabilities:

Police officers will be responsible for their own standard of professional performance and will take every reasonable opportunity to enhance and improve their level of knowledge and competence. Through study and experience, a police officer can acquire the high level of knowledge and competence that is essential for the efficient and effective performance of duty. The acquisition of knowledge is a never-ending process of personal and professional development that should be pursued constantly. Private Life:

Police officers will behave in a manner that does not bring discredit to their agencies or themselves. A police officers's character and conduct while off duty must always be exemplary, thus maintaining a position of respect in the community in which he or she lives and serves. The officer's personal behavior must be beyond reproach.

‼️CASE UPDATE‼️

Earlier this year, we shared this video of a driver traveling more than double the posted speed in a residential street, creating a serious safety risk in a neighborhood where families, children, pedestrians, and pets were nearby.

Many community members have asked for an update on the case.

The defendant went to trial regarding this charge and has since been convicted through the judicial process of Reckless Driving. As part of the court's sentence, the defendant was ordered to complete community service.

We understand that some residents expected an arrest on the day of the incident. Incidents like these are thoroughly investigated, and when appropriate, referred through the criminal justice process. In this case, that process resulted in a criminal conviction and court-ordered consequences.

Reckless driving has no place in our neighborhoods. We remain committed to enforcing traffic laws and promoting the safety of everyone who lives, works, and travels in our community.

Thank you to those who reported concerns and continue to partner with us to help keep Clive safe! 💙

👏 Congratulations to Officer Lamp! 👏

We are proud to share that Officer Lamp was recently recognized by the Noon Optimist Club of Western Des Moines with the "Respect for Law" Award.

Officer Lamp has been involved in several notable cases in his short career that influenced, not just those he interacted with, but the safety and security of the overall community. A 2025 traffic stop that he was on, resulted in the recovery of a stolen firearm, that was determined to have been used in a Des Moines homicide case. Officer Lamp has also worked hard at becoming a top drug interdiction officer on the west side and has had many stops that result in the recovery of large quantities of narcotics. In February of 2026, he stopped a car for a minor traffic offense and looked beyond that stop. He requested a K9 and conducted a search of the car, locating 8.2 pounds of powder co***ne. Nearly a $100K value.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Lamp on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your continued dedication and for representing our department with excellence!

🐾🚓 A huge THANK YOU to WHO 13 News for helping spread the word about our K9 fundraiser with Silverstar Car Wash!

We're proud to partner with Silverstar for this fundraiser as we work toward adding another K9 team to the our department.

Stop by any Silverstar Car Wash location in the metro during the months of June and July to support the fundraiser.

Community support and partnerships like these help make goals like this possible.

Every wash purchased helps bring us one step closer to our goal!

It’s not cheap to start up a K-9 program — or to expand one. The Clive Police Department is thankful to be getting some help. Story link below.

🚨🐷COMING SOON: SUMMER MISCHIEF 🐷🚨

Pork Chop is back and has officially started planning… and let’s just say the Oink Squad is involved.

We’re not saying much yet—but things are about to get oink-credible.

RELEASED BY: Chief Mark Rehberg [email protected] 515-867-5015

Clive, Iowa – Last night, June 4th, 2026, at about 11:30 pm, a shooting occurred at Campbell Park, 12385 Woodlands Parkway, in Clive. Two victims were shot at close range while sitting in a passenger car. A 17-year-old female was struck in the leg. An 18-year-old male was hit in the hand and abdomen. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines by private vehicle.

A short time later, another male who was involved in the incident, contacted police and wanted to turn himself in. Officers responded to a residence in Des Moines and the male was detained for this investigation.

We are not identifying any of the parties involved at this time. A crime scene has been identified at the park, and a search warrant is being issued for a vehicle. There is no on-going threat to the community, and Campbell Park remains open.

This is an on-going investigation, and more details will be released when it is appropriate.
