🌸 Did you know there's a pollinator garden in Colerain Township? It's true!

Today is the official start of National Pollinator Week - a time to show appreciation for pollinators of all kinds, like bees, butterflies, bats, beetles and more! About 75% of all flowering plant species need animal pollinators for reproduction. As a result, pollinators contribute to ecosystem health and a sustainable food supply.

Here in Colerain Township, we have a number of ways we show our appreciation every single day. Here are some ways you can get in on the buzz:

🐝 Visit 5 Hives Pollinator Garden on Amarillo Court
🦋 Check out the Northbrook "Keep it Pollinated" mural on Pippin Rd. and Adams Rd. (Artist Joshua Stout)
🌼 Take a walk along the longest mural in Cincinnati, which includes lots of native Ohio plants and pays tribute to our different character neighborhoods ("Mom's Garden" mural on Colerain Ave. from the Colerain Chamber of Commerce and artist Brian Beck)

You spoke and we're listening!

When Colerain Township issued its annual survey, we received dozens of responses. One comment that kept appearing was how much residents love our parks and the desire to do more with them. That’s why we’re putting out the call to better activate the space at Groesbeck Park.

Groesbeck Park – an 11-acre park constructed in 2007 – currently has three (3) baseball fields and restrooms that are open from April 1 to November 1 each year. The park also has roughly 200 parking spaces and adjoins the newly built Fire Station 26.

So the question is clear – how would you better use this space? What kinds of sports, teams, or organizations do you want to see here?

Colerain Township is now accepting formal proposals for a youth sports lease that makes sense in this space. Not only will this bring opportunities to expand recreational programs locally, but it has the possibility to help support maintenance of other parks and public spaces residents can continue to enjoy.

All proposals will be considered by the Colerain Township Board of Trustees. Proposals will be evaluated based on community benefit, public access, maintenance responsibilities, and how it enhances recreational opportunities for Colerain Township residents.

For the full RFP, please visit Colerain.org/206/Auction-RFQ-Bids. For clarifying questions, please email Jeff Weckbach, Township Administrator at [email protected] by July 10, 2026.

In honor of the FIFA World Cup, we dug into the wayback machine and found photos from the 1976-1977 men's soccer team at Colerain High School!

This year, the team went 12-4-1 for the season. When Colerain put out its All-Century Team Athletes, soccer star Dave Eslick was on the list. He went on to become the Chairman and CEO of Marsh McLennan Agency after graduating from University of Cincinnati and then Xavier University.

Do you recognize any other faces on the team? Did you play soccer for Colerain or Northwest High School?

S.R. 126/Cross County Highway Resurfacing Project Starts This Week

Roadwork Update from ODOT: Preliminary work is getting under way this week for a resurfacing project on approximately 4.5 miles of state Route 126 (Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway).

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be replacing curb ramps, completing minor repairs and resurfacing Cross County Highway between the Colerain Avenue and W. Galbraith Road interchanges.

Traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction throughout the project, with nightly lane closures in effect from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Intermittent ramp closures may also be in effect during late evening and overnight hours; however, the schedule for these have yet to be determined.
