Traffic Update - Emergency personnel have cleared and the roadway is open again.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨

The Collierville Police Department (CPD) and Collierville Fire Department (CFD) are on the scene of a multi-vehicle collision in the area of Eastbound Highway 385, East of Highway 72.

All eastbound lanes of Highway 385 are currently closed, and traffic is being diverted onto the Highway 72 exit.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes, expect delays, and use caution in the area. Please remember to yield to law enforcement and emergency vehicles responding to the scene.

We will provide an update once the highway has reopened.

Two Departments. One Mission.

The Collierville Police Department and Collierville Fire & Rescue are strengthening their partnership with the addition of three Collierville firefighter/paramedics to the Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team as tactical medics.

The SWAT Medic Program brings together the specialized skills of both departments, combining the tactical expertise of law enforcement with the advanced medical training and emergency response experience of our firefighter/paramedics.

Working alongside SWAT officers, these medics will help ensure medical care is available when and where it is needed, including situations where access to patients may be limited or delayed. Their addition brings another layer of preparedness and medical support to SWAT operations.

Meet Collierville’s New SWAT Medics

Three Collierville firefighter/paramedics recently completed the Police Department’s demanding SWAT selection process alongside law enforcement candidates. Each was required to meet the same physical, psychological, and intellectual standards as officers seeking a position on the team, while also demonstrating the ability to manage complex medical emergencies under challenging conditions.

Shane Conaty | Driver/Paramedic

Shane has served with Collierville Fire & Rescue for five years and is also a firefighter in the Air National Guard. He brings a combination of civilian and military emergency response experience to the team.

Ernesto “Mike” Luque | Firefighter/Paramedic

Mike joined Collierville Fire & Rescue earlier this year after serving with the Memphis Fire Department. An Air Force veteran with three years of paramedic experience, he brings a background in tactical and trauma medicine, along with a strong interest in medical education and training.

Kevin Hunt | Firefighter/Paramedic, SWAT Medical Team Leader

Kevin has served with Collierville Fire & Rescue for three years and has 19 years of experience as a paramedic. A U.S. Army veteran, he brings approximately 12 years of tactical medicine experience and an extensive background in medical education and training. Kevin will serve as the SWAT Medical Team Leader.

A Partnership Built on Trust and Teamwork

Each of these firefighter/paramedics brings a different background and set of experiences to the team, but they all share the same commitment to protecting lives and serving our community.

The SWAT Medic Program is another example of how Collierville’s police and fire departments continue to work together, train together, and build on an already strong partnership. By combining their skills and resources, both departments are better prepared to support one another and respond to the needs of the Town of Collierville.

Some of the people who make the biggest difference in the fire service are the ones who work quietly behind the scenes, never looking for recognition or asking for anything in return.

For our Collierville Firefighters, Mike Hoysler, better known as “Uncle Mike,” is one of those people.

Mike may not wear the uniform, but he is every bit a part of our fire department family. Over the years, he has spent countless hours cooking for our crews, sharing stories around the firehouse table, lending an ear when someone needs to talk, and finding little ways to make someone’s day better.

Known affectionately as our “battalion chef,” Mike has brought us plenty of good food, laughter, friendship, and, of course, his famous “vitamin G.” But what makes Uncle Mike so special has never really been about the food. It’s the way he cares for people. He has a gift for making everyone feel like family, and he gives so much of himself without ever expecting anything in return.

Now, as Mike faces cancer a second time, we want to take a moment to recognize someone who has spent so much time taking care of everyone else.

Uncle Mike, you may not realize just how many lives you’ve touched or how much you’ve meant to the firefighters and families who have been fortunate enough to know you. You’ve been there for us through good days and difficult ones, and we want you to know that we’re here for you, too.

Thank you for every meal, every conversation, every laugh, and every quiet act of kindness. More than anything, thank you for loving this fire department like your own family.

We know we’re not the only ones who have been fortunate enough to have Uncle Mike in our lives. If you have a favorite memory, a story, or simply want to share what Mike means to you, we’d love for you to leave it in the comments.

Let’s fill this post with some of the same kindness and happiness he’s spent so many years sharing with others.

Mike, we hope you know just how loved and appreciated you are. You’ve made a difference in more lives than you probably realize, and we are pretty lucky to call you family.

Residential Fire

At approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning, B-Shift Collierville Fire & Rescue crews responded to a reported residential fire in the area of Powell Rd. and Barbara Lynn Dr.

The first arriving crews were on scene within three minutes of the initial call and found smoke coming from the home and visible fire inside. Crews made entry and worked quickly to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

Responding units included Engine 83, Engine 82, Engine 81, Engine 84, Ladder 86, Ladder 85, Unit 83, and Battalion 31.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Collierville Fire Marshal’s Office

This week, Collierville Fire & Rescue hosted a Strategy and Tactics class through the Tennessee Fire Codes and Enforcement Academy, led by instructor David Lowrance.

Firefighters from Collierville, Bartlett, and Germantown came together for training focused on preparing fire officers to safely take command and make critical decisions at structure fires.

The course covers proven firefighting strategies and tactics, taking into account factors such as building construction, occupancy, and available water supply.

Training alongside our neighboring departments is also a great opportunity to share experiences, strengthen working relationships, and improve how we respond when our communities need us.

Our fire crews and Fire Marshal’s Office had a great time this evening at Trick or Treating on the Square, hosted by Main Street Collierville!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, show off their costumes, and grab some candy! We loved seeing everyone out enjoying the evening.

We are already looking forward to next year!

🚨Structure Fire at Russell’s Farm Supply

Yesterday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m., Collierville Fire & Rescue A-Shift crews responded to a reported structure fire at Russell’s Farm Supply, located at 136 S. Center Street.

Engine 81 arrived within three minutes of the initial call and encountered heavy fire conditions, with flames coming through the roof of the building. The main body of the fire was concentrated in the center portion of the structure.

Firefighters quickly went to work, bringing the fire under control within approximately 10 minutes of the first crew's arrival. Crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and complete necessary overhaul operations.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Collierville Fire Marshal's Office.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Unfortunately, Russell Farm Supply's longtime resident parrot, Popeye, did not survive the fire.

A special thank you to the Collierville Police Department officers and dispatchers for their assistance throughout the incident, as well as our neighbors at Germantown Fire Department for responding to assist our crews.

Little chairs, fire trucks, and a little fire safety fun at KinderCare! 🚒🐾

Last week, Sparky, Assistant Fire Marshal Andy Skic, Fire Inspector Rashad Weathers, Fire Education Specialist Jessica Curran, and the crew of Engine 82 (Lt Bobby Echlin, Driver Mike Bartlow, Firefighter Jereon Hunt) stopped by KinderCare for a special visit!

Students got an up-close look at the gear our firefighters wear, checked out Engine 82, and learned a little more about what firefighters do. Sparky and Firefighter Jereon Hunt even showed off a few dance moves!

Today was a perfect day for training and spending time with our community! ☀️🚒

The sunshine and cooler temperatures made for a great day of aerial training at Firehouse 6, while the crew from Engine 82 spent the morning at Lowe's Home Improvement hanging out with some of our young friends, showing off the fire engine, and helping them build wooden fire planes!
