Today, Ohio EMA hosted the Federal Emergency Management Agency as they presented a workshop on the Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS).
IPAWS is used by public safety officials to send urgent life-saving emergency messages to the public via mobile phones, tv, radio, and NOAA weather radios.
Through structured modules, peer learning, and exercise. These modules are designed to ensure targeted learning and real-world application. The workshop includes a Live IPAWS Test, and concludes with a scenario-based activity, allowing participants to apply their understanding of the material in a collaborative setting.

Perry County, thank you for your incredible outpouring of support! Several local community centers and facilities are actively accepting donations to help support our residents and relief efforts.
If you are able to contribute, open locations and their current hours are:

Licking County Flooding Update
Response, Recovery and Cleanup Efforts
LICKING COUNTY, OHIO — Licking County continues to work with communities affected by the flooding that occurred on August 20, 2026. Our focus remains on supporting our residents and communities as we move from response into recovery and cleanup.
Shelter Status
There are no shelters open in Licking County.
Response Status
No active water responses from the previous flood event. No active evacuations are taking place.
Damage Assessment
LCEMA staff are out in the affected communities today surveying damage and identifying areas where Damage Assessment teams will be needed. Damage Assessment teams are scheduled to begin working in the field on Monday, August 24, 2026.
If your home or property received flood damage, please send photos and information to:

You do not need to wait for a Damage Assessment team before beginning cleanup. Please continue cleaning up as needed. If you can do so safely, take pictures of the damage before you begin cleanup or remove damaged items. Those pictures can be very helpful as we document the impact of the flooding.

Resources Available to Residents
Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)
The Salvation Army mobile canteen will be out canvassing affected areas and assisting residents. They will have snacks, drinks and home cleanup buckets available.
This assistance is available to anyone affected by the flooding.

Crisis Cleanup Hotline Activated
Residents who need help cleaning up their property can call the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 740-207-2397.
When you call, you can register your property and the type of cleanup assistance you need. Volunteer organizations have access to the Crisis Cleanup system and can reach out directly to residents to coordinate available assistance and schedule a time to help.
Please remember that registering does not guarantee assistance, but it helps volunteer organizations identify where help is needed.
Additional Assistance
LCEMA is also in contact with other agencies and organizations that are willing to assist our communities. As additional needs are identified, we will work to coordinate those resources and get assistance where it is needed most.
Food Assistance
Residents needing food assistance may contact Licking County Job and Family Services for information regarding SNAP eligibility and available benefits.
Local food assistance is also available through the Food Pantry Network of Licking County.

Moving Forward
We know there are residents dealing with flooded homes, damaged property and a lot of cleanup. Recovery does not happen overnight. LCEMA will continue working with our local communities, first responders, county and state partners, volunteer organizations and others as we work through the recovery process.
