As a member of the Executive Board of NOBLE, I want to express our deep concern regarding Tier 5 of our state’s retirement system. This is not just a policy issue, this is about the long-term security and well-being of the men and women who put their lives on the line every single day.

I want to personally thank members of both the House and the Senate for taking the time to sit down with us and hear our concerns. That dialogue matters, and we appreciate the opportunity to have our voices at the table.

That said, we know the work is far from over. There is still an uphill battle ahead, but let me be clear, we are committed to continuing this fight. Our first responders deserve fairness, stability, and a retirement system that reflects the sacrifices they make.

We will stay engaged. We will stay vocal. And we will not back down when it comes to standing up for those who serve.

Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dr. Elayne Hayes Anthony.

She was a trailblazer who broke barriers in journalism as the first African American woman to anchor the news at WJTV in Jackson. But to the Jackson State University family, she was much more than that she was a mentor, a leader, and someone who truly believed in pouring into the next generation.

During my daughter’s time at Jackson State, Dr. Anthony took a genuine interest in her growth in the field of journalism. She encouraged her, challenged her, and helped push her to become the best version of herself. As a father, I will always be grateful for the time, wisdom, and encouragement she gave my daughter.

That’s the power of Jackson State and HBCUs , they don’t just educate students, they shape lives and build legacies.

Dr. Anthony’s impact will live on through the countless students she mentored and inspired, including my daughter.

Rest well, Dr. Anthony. Your legacy will continue to speak for generations. 🕊️💙

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY TO ME 🙌🏾

Today marks 6 years cancer free.

Six years ago, I heard the words no man ever wants to hear: “You have prostate cancer.” I still remember the tone in my doctor’s voice. It was calm, direct, clinical. For him, it was another conversation. For me, it was life changing.

Before I called anyone else, I called on God.

On February 28, 2020, the cancer was removed. The surgery was successful; but let me be clear, recovery is more than stitches and scars. There have been valleys. There have been emotional battles. There have been quiet moments only God and I understand.

But I’m still here.

And I don’t take that lightly.

There were men before me who didn’t get this chance. There will be men after me whose diagnosis will be terminal. So today I celebrate not just for myself, but for them.

To those who stood with me during my storm, thank you.
To those who didn’t, I forgive you.
God has been faithful either way.

Now let me speak directly to the men reading this:

Stop putting it off.
Stop being “too busy.”
Stop being “too tough.”

Prostate cancer doesn’t care how strong you are, how much money you make, or what title you hold.

Get checked.

Your wife needs you.
Your children need you.
Your community needs you.

And the truth is: we need you.

Early detection saved my life. It could save yours.

Six years cancer free.
Six years of grace.
Six years of purpose.

And I’m not done yet.

When leaders recognize the sacrifices first responders make and take action to strengthen Tier 5, it sends a powerful message: service matters, sacrifice matters, and public safety matters! Thank you for backing first responders who show up every day to protect our communities.

We are grateful for the Mississippi House of Representatives , Speaker Jason White, Rob Roberson for State Representative, Representative Jansen Owen, Bubba Carpenter, Mississippi House of Representatives, District 1 and ALL members for standing with our firefighters and law enforcement—passing HB 1126 by a unanimous vote!

Got him!!!!!

Got him!!!!!

Groundhog Day didn’t go as planned for Phil. After falsifying weather reports and resisting arrest, he’s now enjoying the amenities of CPD custody. Looks like we’re getting 6 more weeks of winter folks!
