A contractor is expected to begin milling (grinding) asphalt on Commerce Road, Union Lake Road to Carroll Lake Road in Charter Township of Commerce, Michigan, starting Tuesday, September 8. The work is being done prior to asphalt paving. The paving is weather-dependent.
The road will remain open. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone; expect some traffic delays."

Commerce Township is seeking approximately 10 election workers for November 3, with paid training and Election Day work and some work on October 26 and 31. Individuals age 16 and older are welcome to apply, with a focus on those comfortable with technology and interested in learning election processes.

Election workers will receive:
$20 for required training
$200 for working Election Day, November 3
Additional opportunities October 26 through October 31 at $15 per hour

Individuals must be at least 16 years old. We are especially looking for people who are comfortable with technology and interested in learning the high-speed tabulator software.

This is an opportunity to gain experience with civic engagement, election technology and clerical processes.

We have already responded to very serious crashes involving young people operating e-bikes and electric motorcycles, and we want parents and riders to understand the risks.

Not every electric bike is legally considered an e-bike. Depending on its speed, power and design, it may be classified as an electric motorcycle, which comes with different requirements for where it can be ridden, licensing, registration and insurance.

Parents, please have a conversation with your children about safe and responsible riding. Know what they are riding, make sure they are wearing a helmet and understand where they can legally operate it.

Take a few minutes to review the attached infographic. Know the law before you ride.

Ordinance Regarding Ebikes for Commerce; It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any privately owned motor vehicles of any kind
or nature whatsoever including, but not limited to snowmobiles, other recreational vehicles,
scooters, motor-operated bicycles and/or motorcycles, automobiles, trucks and campers
upon township owned, leased and controlled lands, except upon such roads and within such
parking lots as shall be designated by the township supervisor or his designated
representative.
