53rd Anniversary - Honoring the Fallen Crew of CG2123

September 21, 1973 a crew of six members from U. S. Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi launched on a Search and Rescue Mission in response to a man reported overboard East of the Port Aransas Jetties. A fire broke out in the aircraft’s cabin as they began to deploy an MK-45 flare. As a result of the fire, all six crew members lost their lives.

Today, we honor this crew and their dedication to the mission.

Today, members of Coast Guard Air Station and Sector Corpus Christi paused to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001 - a day that changed our nation forever. We joined our local community in climbing 220 flights of stairs, representing the 110 floors of each of the twin towers. Each step taken honored the courage of the first responders and the resilience of every soul impacted by that tragic day.

A heartfelt thank you to the Corpus Christi Hooks for hosting and supporting this meaningful event. Your partnership helps keep the memory of our heroes alive.
Semper Paratus.

Today, Air Station Corpus Christi had the privilege of hosting a visit from the Colombian War College.

Guests received a guided tour of our facilities and gained insight into our mission, operational capabilities, organizational structure, aviation maintenance programs, and training processes. The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices and strengthen professional partnerships through shared aviation experience and collaboration.

The Colombian aviation community operates variants of the MH-65 Dolphin and HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft, making this engagement especially valuable as both organizations discussed common operational and maintenance perspectives.

We are proud to foster international partnerships that enhance interoperability, professional development, and mutual understanding in support of global maritime aviation and search and rescue operations.
