We wrapped up two great days of college, career, and real-life exploration for our Cadets!

🚌Grades 9-11 visited NIACC and the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum, exploring educational opportunities and hearing firsthand from industry professionals about career pathways!

🎓Seniors continued Reality 101 with hands-on learning about banking, paychecks, writing checks, credit, and fraud prevention. Every senior also learned about LinkedIn, created their own profile, and received a professional headshot!

📚Our AmeriCorps members provided guidance on FAFSA and scholarships, while economics teacher Chris Govern helped students work through a practical budgeting activity.

The day concluded with an alumni panel, emceed by Toni and Keaton, where former Cadets shared their journeys and advice for the future!

👏A HUGE thank you to NIACC, John Deere, Cresco Bank & Trust, Howard County Chamber of Commerce, Tanya Riehle, AmeriCorps members Toni Thiele and Keaton Vobr, our alumni panelists, and all our staff who helped make these experiences possible!

What a great day of college, career, and real-life exploration for our Cadets!

🚌Grades 9-11 visited Wartburg College, Mobile Track Solutions, and the Earthmoving Legacy Center to explore college and career opportunities firsthand!

🎓Seniors kicked off Reality 101 with six interactive breakout sessions focused on life after high school! Topics included personality and self-discovery, options after high school, financial aid, interview and workplace readiness, digital presence and personal branding, and living independently, including housing and insurance.

👏A HUGE thank you to Wartburg College, Mobile Track Solutions, Earthmoving Legacy Center, our middle school counselor Marnie Carlson, Upper Iowa University, NICC, CUSB Bank, IowaWORKS, State Farm, and all our staff for sharing your time and expertise with our students!

And we're not done yet! More college and career tours and senior breakout sessions coming Thursday!

🏠Learning Beyond the Classroom!🔨

Mr. Ferrie’s high school students recently toured three local homes in different stages of construction, getting a firsthand look at the homebuilding process!

Students explored different building styles and approaches, asked questions, and saw classroom concepts come to life. They also learned about career opportunities in the trades, the growing demand for skilled workers, and the importance of planning, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

A big thank you to Chas Malek and Josh Tupy of Malek Builders, Darin Ferrie of 3B Construction, and Codey Hayek of Hayek Electric for sharing their time and expertise with our students!

Even better, all four are Crestwood graduates! We appreciate their willingness to give back and help inspire the next generation!

📐Bringing geometry to life!

Students in Mr. Thompson’s Supplemental Geometry class recently welcomed Aaron Wemark, owner of A&J’s Construction LLC, to show how math and geometry are used in construction every day.

Aaron shared real examples involving measuring, angles, layouts, blueprints, estimating, and materials. Students got some hands-on experience, and even a few teachers joined in, as they saw how the things they’re learning in class connect to the work being done in the field.

A big thank you to Aaron for taking the time to work with our students and share his experience!

PINK OUT!

The Crestwood volleyball team is hosting a Pink Out tonight and raising money for HoCA. No one is celebrating cancer survivors and honoring those lost to cancer more than our volleyball coaches.

We had some very special visitors this morning! The Crestwood Homecoming Court stopped by to spend some time with our residents, bringing plenty of smiles and excitement to our day!
