Counties included: Calhoun, Dixie, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Hamilton, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor & Wakulla.

⚠️ 10/9, 4PM: A Tornado Watch is in effect until 9 PM EDT for the following Florida counties:

Bay, Calhoun, Dixie, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton & Washington.

A Tornado WATCH means the conditions needed for a tornado to form are POSSIBLE. 🌪️

🚨 Stay alert, monitor local weather updates & have multiple ways to receive alerts. Be prepared to take shelter immediately if a Tornado Warning is issued.

10/9/26: A Tornado Watch is in effect for parts of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, far southwest Georgia, and far southeast Alabama until 9pm EDT. The tornado risk will continue increasing this afternoon as rainbands associated with Isaias continue spreading northward.

5 am CT Hurricane Isaias update:

No major changes for Dixie County from the last update. A Storm Surge Warning still remains from the Steinhatchee River to the Suwannee River.

Isaias is currently a Category 2 hurricane with top sustained winds of 110 mph. Isaias will have started to weaken as it makes landfall this evening near Pensacola. Impacts like wind, surge, flooding rain, and tornadoes will extend hundreds of miles east of the center.

October 8, 2026 - 11 AM ET/10 AM CT:

Updates for Dixie County: A Storm Surge Warning has been extended from the Steinhatchee River to the Suwannee River.

Coastal communities have the potential to experience 3–5 feet of seawater above ground level, beginning as early as Friday morning.

At this time, we are not expecting significant winds in our area based on the current projected path. However, widespread rainfall is expected through Saturday.

Currently, no evacuations or closures are planned. If there are any changes to the storm’s projected path or local impacts, we will provide updates immediately through our social media channels, local news outlets, and Dixie Alert.

6 AM ET/5 AM CT October 8, 2026 Update on Hurricane Isaias:

Hurricane Isaias continues to strengthen in the southern Gulf. It's forecast to turn northeast later today and eventually to the north later tonight.

Hurricane, Storm Surge, and Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect for most coastal locations in the Panhandle and Big Bend. Inland portions of the Florida Panhandle and southwestern FL Big Bend are now under a Tropical Storm Warning.

Heavy rain, strong winds, storm surge, & tornadoes are all possible.

A Flood Watch is now in effect for most of the area Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. Widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 7 inches are forecast with isolated 10 inch amounts.

Rainbands swirling around Isaias will be capable of producing tornadoes as they move through FRI afternoon into FRI night across the FL Panhandle and western FL Big Bend. This is where there is a Slight (level 2 of 5) Risk for severe weather, mainly for tornadoes, for FRI.

The threat for tornadoes then expands across much of the area Saturday as a trailing rainband is forecast to remain over the area much of the day. There is a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather, again mainly for tornadoes, in areas highlighted in yellow.

Storm Surge Warnings are in effect for coastal locations from the Steinhatchee River westward through the Florida Panhandle.

Storm Surge Watch remains in effect for the Dixie County Coast.
