Captain Rich generously donated 16 hours of marine operations and vessel familiarization training to our new firefighters. As a retired firefighter and certified FWC Boating Safety Instructor, his knowledge and experience were invaluable.

Training Spotlight: Building Skills Through Realistic Scenarios

Recently our firefighters participated in hands-on training focused on operating in all hazard environments while wearing full turnout gear and SCBA. The scenario challenged crews to locate and manipulate objects by touch, simulating conditions they may encounter during emergency incidents.

These drills reinforce critical skills including:

1. Situational awareness.

2. Teamwork and communication while on air.

3. Fine motor skills while wearing structural firefighting gloves.

4. Confidence and proficiency with SCBA equipment.

5. Problem-solving under realistic conditions.

6. Forceable entry drills.

Regular training like this helps ensure our personnel remain prepared to respond safely and effectively when the community needs us most. Continuous practice builds muscle memory, sharpens decision-making, and strengthens the teamwork that is essential on the fireground.

We also took to the water for our Marine training, and of course the cleaning 🧽 that follows.

Our members remain dedicated to training and this shows with their commitment to serving our community with professionalism.
