🧪🎈 It was a gas! 🎈🧪

Our 3rd grade scientists were busy investigating the different types of matter! After learning about gases, they were ready to put their knowledge to the test with a hands-on investigation. 🔬✨

First, our scientists identified the solids in their investigation—including cylinders, trays, balloons, and baking soda. Then, they identified the liquid: vinegar! After thoughtfully combining their materials, they got to experience the final type of matter firsthand… GAS! 💨

And where did that gas go? Right into the balloon! 🎈

Our scientists were excited to see their learning in action—and needless to say, this experiment was a GAS! 😄🧪

This morning we are practicing an EVACUATION drill. EVACUATION occurs when students and staff must move outside of the building due to a hazard indoors. Staff will lead students to an evacuation location and take attendance.

We are also practicing a SECURE drill. During SECURE, any staff and students that are outside come back into the building. This drill prepares us for any time there may be a threat or hazard outside of the building.

🎉 Please help us welcome Ms. Keidra Williams! 🐯💙🧡

We are so excited to welcome Ms. Keidra Williams to the Timber Creek Elementary family! She will be serving our campus as its Attendance Clerk and Registrar. 📚✨

Have a sick kiddo who needs to be checked in or out? 🤒 Need to better understand our school's tardy and absence policies? Or have an upcoming family trip that you would like excused in advance? ✈️ Have a new student who is interested in joining our Timber Creek family? 🏫💙 Ms. Williams is the woman to contact! She will be here to help our students and families navigate all things attendance and registration.

🎉 Welcome to Timber Creek, Mr. Jerry Dean Washington Jr.! 🐯

We are excited to welcome Mr. Jerry Dean Washington Jr. to the Timber Creek Elementary family! Mr. Washington joins us with a passion for education, culinary arts, creativity, and—of course—our TCE Tigers! 🐯

Mr. Washington was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, where he graduated from Jim Hill High School with honors, ranking in the top 25 of his class. He later attended the Mississippi University for Women, earning a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Culinary Arts with a minor in Food Art. He is also ServSafe certified.

Teaching has always been a dream for Mr. Washington. At just 25 years old, he began sharing his culinary knowledge as a professor at Hinds Community College. After finding his way back to education, he is thrilled to join a school community that welcomed him and made him feel right at home! ❤️

✨ A few fun facts about Mr. Washington:
🍳 He has loved cooking since he was just 8 years old!
📸 He loves fashion and photography and was a member of his college modeling team, eventually serving as president during his senior year.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 He is the eighth of ten children!

Have you completed your Timber Creek digital permissions (in GoogleForm) for the 26-27 school year yet? LISD must ask permission to use certain electronic resources that require account creation or store information on behalf of your student. If you give us permission, we can use the apps. If you do not give us permission, we can not use the apps. All of the apps we are asking permission to use have been vetted by district professionals and are considered high quality, instructional resources. Know you must complete a form for each student, each year. There are slightly different forms for each grade level, so please be sure you are completing the correct forms for each child you have that attends Timber Creek.
