'Leaders from both parties should be unequivocal in calling this out. Silence is complicity. Anyone who engages in this behavior has no business seeking public office.' KDTC agrees.

A Republican candidate for State Representative posting an image of a noose to reference gay people is beyond unacceptable, it is dangerous and deeply offensive. This kind of hateful rhetoric has no place in our communities or our politics.

Leaders from both parties should be unequivocal in calling this out. Silence is complicity. Anyone who engages in this behavior has no business seeking public office.

The KDTC stands against the hateful anti-LGBTQ rhetoric of the GOP candidate for the 50th District; and in solidarity with our entire diverse community. This mindset has no place in the Quiet Corner or in our government. Voters of the 50th - do your thing. 🌈

Calling all gardeners in town! The Community Garden needs your help!

"We’re reaching out honestly and directly because the Killingly Community Garden is at a critical point.
Over the past few years, our volunteer base has become increasingly small. At this point, we simply do not have enough consistent hands to sustain the garden in the way our community deserves.
This garden has always been about more than growing food. It has been a place for connection, education, accessibility, pollinators, mutual support, and community resilience. But community spaces only survive when the community actively participates in keeping them alive.
Right now, we need:
• Regular volunteers for watering, weeding, and general upkeep
• People willing to help organize workdays and seasonal planning
• Families, neighbors, and local organizations interested in adopting small recurring tasks
• Community members with skills in outreach, fundraising, maintenance, or education
• Anyone who cares about preserving green, accessible community space in Killingly
Even a few hours a month from several people could make a significant difference.
If you’ve ever wanted to get involved, this is the moment. Without additional support and participation, the long-term future of the garden is uncertain.
We understand people are busy, overwhelmed, and stretched thin. But we also believe communities become stronger when people show up for shared spaces and for each other.
If you are interested in volunteering, collaborating, or helping us reimagine a sustainable future for the garden, please reply to this email or join us for our regular monthly meeting on Wednesday June 3rd 5:00pm at the Killingly Community Garden - 79 Westfield Ave in Danielson .
We still believe in what this garden can be — but it cannot thrive on the efforts of only a few people.
With gratitude,
The Killingly Community Garden Committee"

The bulk of this meeting was about the Amazon/Westcott Rd/Husky proposal. But to end on a bright spot, the IWWC opened the matter of the Old Killingly Pond dam in a spirit of collaboration & shared purpose.
