Calling all gardeners in town! The Community Garden needs your help!
"We’re reaching out honestly and directly because the Killingly Community Garden is at a critical point.
Over the past few years, our volunteer base has become increasingly small. At this point, we simply do not have enough consistent hands to sustain the garden in the way our community deserves.
This garden has always been about more than growing food. It has been a place for connection, education, accessibility, pollinators, mutual support, and community resilience. But community spaces only survive when the community actively participates in keeping them alive.
Right now, we need:
• Regular volunteers for watering, weeding, and general upkeep
• People willing to help organize workdays and seasonal planning
• Families, neighbors, and local organizations interested in adopting small recurring tasks
• Community members with skills in outreach, fundraising, maintenance, or education
• Anyone who cares about preserving green, accessible community space in Killingly
Even a few hours a month from several people could make a significant difference.
If you’ve ever wanted to get involved, this is the moment. Without additional support and participation, the long-term future of the garden is uncertain.
We understand people are busy, overwhelmed, and stretched thin. But we also believe communities become stronger when people show up for shared spaces and for each other.
If you are interested in volunteering, collaborating, or helping us reimagine a sustainable future for the garden, please reply to this email or join us for our regular monthly meeting on Wednesday June 3rd 5:00pm at the Killingly Community Garden - 79 Westfield Ave in Danielson .
We still believe in what this garden can be — but it cannot thrive on the efforts of only a few people.
With gratitude,
The Killingly Community Garden Committee"
